No. 11 Weber State (0-1) at Colorado State (1-0)

Weber State played an FBS opponent close last week, barely falling to Wyoming, 29-22. Now, the Wildcats face a Colorado State team that hasn't lost a home opener since 2004.

The Wildcats hope to catch the Rams coming off the emotional high of a 23-17 victory over arch-rival Colorado.

Payton Award nominee Cameron Higgins (322 yards passing, three TDs, five interceptions) was a career-high 32-of-51 passing against Wyoming, but his turnovers killed WSU's chance at a win. The All-American is used to a high- octane passing attack, as he threw for 4.477 yards and 36 TDs a year ago.

Tailback Trevyn Smith (14 carries, 97 yards), another Payton candidate, should continue to be one of the best in FCS, even though he's protected by an inexperienced offensive line. Wideout Tim Toone (eight catches, 12.5 average, TD) should be a factor, but the All-American could be limited by a stingy Colorado State defense.

Safety Beau Hadley (eight tackles, one forced fumble), defensive end Kevin Linehan (seven tackles), Buchanan Award candidate Josh Morris (three tackles) at cornerback and lineman Brighton Barkdull (two tackles, two tackles for loss) lead a unit that's gotten better on defense.

The Rams relied heavily on first-year starting quarterback Grant Stucker (10- of-17, 208 yards, TD, two interceptions) and tailback Leonard Mason (23 carries, 107 yards).

Junior cornerback DeAngelo Wilkinson (7.5 tackles), safety Elijah-Blue Smith (2.5 tackles, interceptions) and freshman All-American linebacker Mychal Sisson (seven tackles) anchor a defense that can be overwhelming.

WEBER STATE 24, COLORADO STATE 21

i think the defense was a pleasant surprise at Wyoming. How about that goal line stance? in the red zone, wyoming was kicking FG's more than TD's because of WSU defense.

WSU started true freshman Adam Sagapolutele White next to sophomore Ryan 'The Beast' Eastman. during the game, coach inoke's rotation provided fresh legs. Eastman had 1 sack, 1 tackle for loss, 3 assists, and 1 solo tackle, despite drawing double and triple teams all day. Bijon and Maiah also had some good playing time, and held their own on defense.

'The Hawaiians' on the D line have a new club, called Club 400......if you can't bench press 400+ lbs., you can't join the club. remember, WSU just picked up 3 D linemen from Hawaii, and they WILL make a difference.

CSU better be ready, because we're not coming to town just for the bus ride.

GO WILDCATS!!!!

I'm surprised by the TSN pick, but I'll take it!

IF we play mistake-free football and improve our play calling a wee bit, we can beat the 2.5 TD odds and pull off the win.
