TT Predictions

TexasHSfootball has a pretty good write up for this game:

http://texashsfootball.com/texas-tech-game-game-season-preview-eastern-washington/

Prediction: 41-30 Texas Tech

I have a feeling there are going to be more points than this scored by both teams.

One team will score in low 50's while the other will score in the high 40's. The spread will be high so take the pts. Combined score will equal the temp at game time.

52-42 EAGS

TT scores on their last drive to make it 42-45, we orchestrate a 6 minute 80 yard scoring drive to put them away.

Can't wait.

I doubt that we can score 52 points with a new offensive scheme and all new offensive coaches. And it is only a wish that our defense has improved enough to hold any Big 12 team to less than 50 points.

Has Eastern changed offensive scheme much? I don't think we'll see much difference between last year's offense and this year's offense. I'd expect a little more running as we incorporate new receivers while retaining the same OL and RBs. That said, I'm sure we'll still be doing most of the same stuff as last year except maybe utilizing more tight end in sets and having a little more emphasis on power.

One interesting thing to note is that, under Baldwin, we ALWAYS played great in game one. We'll need to keep that going with Coach Best.

I can understand the concerns, but I think the Eags will be fine. With an athletic QB, the chains will move....regardless of the new play calling/scheme/etc. Gage will make up for a lot of things that will inevitably go wrong in game one. In a lot of ways, I think having any new schemes and play calling makes us even more unpredictable and tougher to stop. There's not a lot of tape out there of our OC's play calling or tendencies which is in our favor. Who knows if he'll run the ball on 3rd and 1 or chuck it deep. It would be one thing if we were breaking in a new QB, but that's not the case. If things break down a little, so what. I almost like Gage more when he has to scramble around and do his thing.

As far as the defense is concerned...nobody thought we could hold the Cougs to under 50 a year ago....including our friends in the Desert. Although, not having Samson definitely changes things. I think it will take a turnover or two, but Eags can get this done.
Early prediction......eags win 52 - 49. Out of all things on a last second field goal. Yes, I just said that.

I'm good with this prediction. And if we miss the field goal, we will win in OT!

With TT breaking in a new QB, and with our renewed focus on the running game, I would expect this to be a lower scoring affair than previously anticipated. I'll go with 38-34 EWU.
