Two Deeps Are Out And...

Skippy

True freshman Skyler Phillips will be starting at LG, while classmates Thomas Vazorka (RT) and Chad Hansen (WR) are second teamers. Other interesting notes:

--Of the four JC LBs recruited, only one -- PJ Gremaud, is listed on the two deeps. Instead, redshirt frosh Hayden Stout and Drew Sharkey are listed as backups, behind Jake Pele and Trevor Spence, respectively. Gremaud will start at the WILL LB.

--Transfer Madison Mangum is listed as the backup at the X WR, behind Cam Richmond.

--The defensive front remains relatively small with Austin Graves (241) and Kimo Makaula (250) listed as the starting ends, although Tyler Kuder (305) brings some beef to the nose position.

--The starting CBS will be Jon Davidson and Cam Gupton, with transfer Brandon Golden backing up Davidson.

--Riley Sessions is listed as the backup QB, which would probably indicate Delacenserie will redshirt. Sage Burmeister is not listed on the two-deeps, either, which probably also means he'll be redshirted. Of course, injuries can always change the equation.

I'd give you a link but I don't have one yet. Check the ISU web site, I suspect the news release will be posted shortly.

Surprised Phillips is starting although I was told he was challenging for time. This freshman starting falls in the group of just to good to keep off the field, not the group where we just suck at that position.

Chad Hansen looked really good in the scrimmage the other night, I expect some good things from this kid.

They showed a couple of fronts on defense at the scrimmage, this is just one of them. They ran in so many kids in I couldn't say who the starters were until they put in in print. I expect change to match the situations we face because of better depth on the line.

Last night on the Coach's Radio Show (Wed. 6 p.m., at Courtesy Ford in Pocatello) Coach Kramer said this Saturday he'll be rotating in nine (that's 9 !) different players on the 3-man D-Line, and 13 (Yes, 13 !) at linebacker. It looks like Tim and I will be pretty busy trying to track substitutions...

I expect the two seeps to change quite a bit between now and the BSC opener.Especially at defensive back.
