First of all, I am a fan (I am not a coach or an expert), just a fan. I am going to rank these guys by a star system to reflect who I think will be impact players. I do this just for fun and claim no expertise.
On a scale from 5 to 1 stars:

* * * * Gelaun Wheelwright 6-2
* * * * * Scott Bamforth 6-3
* * * * Davion Berry 6-4
* * Frank "Mook" Otis 6-7
* * * * Kyle Tresnak 6-10

* * Abdul "Deuce" Zaid 6-2
* * Royce Williams 6-5
* * * * Byron Fulton 6-7
* * Joel Bolomboy 6-8
* * Wayne Bradford 6-2
* * * James "SteamRoller" Hajek 6-11
* * Kyndahl "Too Tall" Hill 6-8

Had Lillard stuck around for his senior season, he would get 6 stars.

Nice finds by the coaches. I'm excited for Bradford and Williams to join the team. Does anyone know if the team will be playing together in the summer?

Waldo, I like your idea. Like Waldo, I don't claim to know anything. This is pure speculation on my part.

I look at it as a comparison to last years team and use a system of +, -, =. I do it by position, not individuals. I try to consider all aspects that may contribute to the overall success of the team. I consider tallent, depth, potential improvement and attitude.

Point Guard -
Off Guard =-
Small Forward ++
Power forward +
Center =+

I see us being about the same as this year, with the exception that I think we will be much stronger in the rebounding aspect of the game. :twocents:

Much may depend on whether Otis's knees can hold up for a full season. From what I saw of him last year he brought a real quickness to the low post. Something not many big sky teams have an answer for. I also really liked Hajek's toughness underneath. If he is full strength we could have a nice center combo for next year. one thing to remember, before Bullinger got hurt, he was leading the conference in rebounding. Someone on next year's team will have to pull down some boards.

I included Otis in my small forward rotation. I think that our power forwards are Byron Fulton and Joel Bolomboy. If Hill can come in and contribute at the 3, that will make us a better rebounding team. How these new signings turn out is anybodies guess. That is the big unknown factor. We can only hope that there is a diamond in that bunch. If there is, it could change my rating at the 2 spot, and add a new dynamic to our team. Time will tell. :thumb:

That's a good looking roster, and I'll take it. But I'm still recovering from Pocatello and the fact that this past season will be the one that got away. The year we hosted Creighton instead of UTSA in bracketbuster; our first win in Provo, and our first 11 seed. So many dissapointments to get excited just yet for next season. But the minute we loose to SUU in football again, I'm sure I'll be ready to go for hoops.

As a Weber State fan, it feels really good knowing that our recruiting is done for the 2012-2013 season. I like the team the coaching staff has assembled and I feel it is perhpas one of the deeper teams we have seen in some time at Weber State. Weber is going to be extremely athletic next year. Youngish, yes, but athletic. Otis and Bam are the only SRs. For the 2013 signing period, we can expect the coaching staff to sign a guard and a big. But with the bigs the Cats have, Weber might be looking for a guy who can really spread the floor. A Patten or Art type player.

Granted, primarily due to Lillard, there was a lot of excitment surrounding the Cats last season. However, the team wasn't the most athletic and suffered some serious injuries that really hurt the teams ability. No matter, to finish the season at 25-7 is nothing to be ashamed of. Lillard was the man this year and he definitely carried the team. Even though a lot of us were expecting more from the Cats it didn't happen. Doesn't mean it won't happen next year. I feel out team will be more dangerous and balanced next year than it was this year.

One of the two new guys WILL redshirt. Just who it is, I don't know, but that is the plan right now. :twocents:

Im pretty sure Royce Williams has already redshirted, so that would mean Wayne Bradford would redshirt. Makes sense to me becasue we are thin at the SF position and Coach Rahe said Wayne was really skinny. So a redshirt would probably help me the most. Plus Weber is loaded at the PG position so that extra year space the players out makes sense, but what do I know Im just a fan.

I don't think that any of these guys are point guards. I think that one or two of them could redshirt. The first priority for next fall's (this summer's) recruiting is going to be a point guard for the future. :coffee:

One of the best things about these JC signings are the 3 yrs of eligibility, & possibly with Bradford 4 yrs to play 3, it's really ideal. I think we'll see a much better player in Berry, because he's been with the team for a year as opposed to him being a jc, and playing right away last year.

Zaid is a combo
Berry is a 3 Wing
Bradford is a 2/3 Wing likely RS
Williams is a 3 Wing/4 SF
Hill is a 3 Wing possible RS
Fuller is a 3 Wing (Season after next)
Bolomboy 4

we've been lean at the 3 since Frank exited early, doesn't seem to be a problem anymore.

RoyceWilliams22.jpg

he kind of reminds me of Frank, same frame just 2" taller, almost sounds like they may have similar styles
He did shoot 52% from the FT line last year... :wall:

Welcome to Weber, Royce hopefully somebody shows him some footage of Sessions face after the U of M Final..

Deeper at 3 and 4, thinner at 1 and 2, and about the same at 5. Over all, more athletic and longer, but less experienced. I'd say, another really good team. Great...., we'll see. :coffee:

Overall Weber is going to be deeper next year. As for the PG position, yes there is going to be a substantial talent swing, but I really feel that Gelaun is coming along nicely. He definitely closed out the season showing a great deal of improvement. Also, who knows, with an additional 15min of playing time per game, how much better he will get. LMU was the only time last year that he logged consistent mins that allowed him to get into a solid rythmn. He has serious skills and can really ball.

As for Barry...I love how oppossing team fans bash him since he is transfering from a DII school. But I trust Rahe far more than a but of ignorant Aggies, Grizz, or Bengals. Barry is a special player. I hope he comes into next season with a chip on his shoulder. He is going to surprise quite a few people.

I have only seen Berry play once at the Purple and White game last year and if that was any indication of how good he is then we are going to be just fine. I thought he was by far the second best player on the floor. It wasn't even close in my opinion. Granted it was just the Purple and White game, but damn he really stood out. He was draining 3's, slashing to the hole and finishing with both hands with ease. He is quick and played great defense. I loved Bull, but Berry brings another level of athletisim to the small forward position we have not had since Session. He could slide down and play guard too. I predict Berry will be Newcomer of the year and at least 2nd team all Big Sky next year.
