Very sorry to hear the news that he is declaring for the draft. It is selfish for me to say I think it is a mistake because I don't really know the whole story only that I would have liked to see him play another year at Eastern.
Looking from Tylers perspective, what does he have to gain by staying another year? The upside is he may get a little better defensively but the down side is he could have a bad year and go down in draft potential or worse yet sustain an injury and be done playing.
Good Luck Tyler, thanks for the memories!

After contemplating this as well. I agree.
I am still pumped for next year as we played quite a few games without him and we will be just fine! With the emergence of Sr. Washington and the BLIZZARD with Jois and Von Hoff....I feel we will be right back where we were this year.. competing for the championship again...plus there will be more shots to go around for others (not a shot on Harvey - but a fact)...looking forward to next year! Go Eags.

Sometimes when there is a big scorer on a team the other guys come to rely on that. If other players score more because they have more opportunities we will be tougher to defend because of more weapons. We lost more games when Vinky was down than when Tyler was down.
We'll be OK!

Can't blame Harvey for taking a shot at the Pro's, best of luck to him! He hasn't signed an agent yet so there is still a chance he could come back.

Led EWU to the Big sky conference regular season and tourney championship, a trip to the big dance, a win at Indiana and was the nations leading scorer. His stock is sky high right now.

Besides seeing more time at the PG position, not sure what else he can do to improve his stock next year. He had 20+ against Indiana, SMU, Georgetown, Washington, and Cal this year. Plus 5th year seniors aren't hot commodities in the NBA draft.

I sure hope he gets drafted in the 1st or finds the right team in the 2nd round.

Harvey was a class act at EWU, one of the all time best, hope he kills it in the NBA...

clawman,
He still has until late in April to return if he thinks it isn't the best move for him. He is a very well spoken young man, very polite quiet. I am so happy we had a person of his caliber attending EWU and playing for us. We have had some great Players that came here played, and did not get much cudos. I hope if he doesn't come back, he get the best Agent he can find, and get beefed up for the NBA. Look at the young man from WSU, he is tearing up the scoring, with the Los Angeles Warriors, his dad was a former NBA Player. "Good Luck Harvey, we will miss you and all you have done for the "EAGLES" the past four years. Vic Wallace

Please Vic....GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS not los angeles.....never los angeles......

First of all...I love the fact that we are a Big Sky school and are sending guys to the NBA (early). I wish Harvey was staying but I'm so proud of that kid. Has great character and represents EWU about as well as you could ask a student-athlete to represent a university. He needs to go after his dream while HE feels he has the best chance of fulfilling it. Eags will be just fine without him. Lot's of talent on the team and this point guard we have coming in has game.

Best of luck to you Tyler. Eagle Nation will miss you.

go eags!

sacstateman,
Thanks for the correction. My Lakers have been getting their asses whip so much, I used the words Los Angeles. I think they finally won 20 games, lost about 50+.     I even forgot the young man name. I knew his dad also played a little time with the Lakers. Those were the good old days. Thanks for the correction. Vic Wallace

No problem Vic.....i just HATE los angeles anything. dodgers suck, lakers, clippers, they all are so arrogant....BTW the WSU kid is Klay Thompson, son of Mychal Thompson....

sacstateman,
That is the stud (Klay) I was talking about, and his day is Mychal Thompson. Klay is really tearing the league for his time he has been in the NBA. Again thanks for the insight. Saw some of our BB Players yesterday, had open Gym and they are working very hard for the upcoming season. Hope you saw where Tiawan Jones former EWU FB Player did signed with Oakland another 3 year extension. Vic Wallace

To All,
Saw Tyler Harvey and his Dad about 5:45hrs p.m. yesterday at FB Practice, he came to see us and many others that he got to know while here at EWU. His dad and myself became great friends, and he said he figured he could find me at FB Practice. They are leaving for California some time last night. If you haven't seen his farewell, go to EWU Athletics listen and look at Tyler Harvey giving an outstanding farewell to EAF Members (Eagle Athletic Fund Members), and others, great listening. We all wished Harvey al the best in the world, can't wait for him to become an "EAF Member". Good Luck Harvey!!!!   Vic Wallace

Good luck in all your endeavors Tyler. You are a prime example of a scholar athlete. I look forward to watching you in the NBA.

A lot of talk out there right now about Harvey being a 1st Round pick.
I watched some of the NBA combine today 5 on 5 game. Harvey did not look good. Shots were not falling and didn't seem to hustle. Ball handling was fairly good though. He was playing point.

I watched the combine 5 on 5 as well. I would agree that I didn't see consistent hustle. Harvey did hit a couple of beautiful 3's though and seemed to have no trouble getting off his own shot. He would have had a third 3 but his heel was out of bounds when he shot so it didn't count. Finished with 8 points. Thought his ball handling looked good and he had a really nice assist on a drive to the hoop. I heard an NBA coach say in an interview that they are really looking for shooters in this year's draft to help space the floor. Sounded like that's what a lot of teams are looking for this year. We might be surprised where he gets taken. I didn't think he looked out of place by any means against the competition. GM's already know what he can do from his college tape. I don't think he played himself into a higher or lower pick by his performance. None of the other guys could really hit their shot either. Time will tell.

go eags!

To All,
Received info about Tyler Harvey, he is currently in San Antonio, for a tryout with the Spurs on Wednesday. He has 9 more tryouts in the next 3 weeks. He will be a very busy young man. Good Luck Harvey. Vic Wallace
