UC Davis and Cal Poly

For playing football in the Big Sky, these teams don't play the Big Sky much in basketball. Cal Poly plays zero games against the Big Sky and UC Davis plays Sacramento State and Northern Colorado.

It's not ideal for a conference to have partial membership, but if we are going to allow it they should each be required to play at least four games each against the Big Sky!

I've been saying the same thing since they joined for football. The conference had some leverage at the time and should have required them to agree to play a certain number of basketball games vs Big Sky teams each season.

Agreed! This should be happening. Both schools should set up, at the very least 4 home and home games. Each year they'd get two home games and play two road games. Seems fair to me.

The Big Sky had zero leverage, the WAC was courting both Montana's and even Poly, Davis and even Portland.

The Big Sky had to make a move quick and told Poly and Davis they could join. Poly and Davis both said no unless they were allowed to stay in the Big West for hoops. The Big Sky consented. Its true they could have tried to negotiate some sort of basketball contract but the Big Sky didnt have any leverage.

I would say that right about now is the right time for a re-negotiation. :coffee:

As much as I would like to see Davis and Poly schedule for Sky teams what is the Big Sky gonna do? Tell them schedule more Big Sky teams or you're out? :?

Maybe not quite like that, but a more open and friendly approach. I'm sure that it is not easy for them to build a home schedule either.

:+1: Agree, nothing wrong with a discussion on something that is pretty common (scheduling) among the non-bigs. From the get go this fan was wanting nothing but full sports members in the Big Sky but realized the circumstances then. Things evolve...need to update discussions to current matters. :coffee:
