• Hi Guest,

We've updated the site to combine all the forums that were part of the Big Sky Fans Network into one location. This will make it easier to navigate and participate in all the discussions for each school without having to have multiple accounts, etc. We are still working out some tweaks but please let us know if you notice anything.

With the migration, in some circumstances, your username could have been merged with one of your other usernames from the other forums. If this is the case, you can request to change your username in your account details page of your profile.

@ UC Davis

Another season, another wretched start by Eastern. The good news is we were awful early last year, literally inventing ways to lose. Then we found some chemistry and still went far. Hope for the same this year.

Gotta say, I wasn't a big fan of Chaves. He did a lot of talking about facilities and schedules and never did much of anything of substance. But Hickey seems to be doubling-down on the bad and giving us none of the upside. We have San Jose State and Boise State coming to Cheney for our women, but no D1 non-con men's opponents. We've had Washington, WSU, and Gonzaga all come to Cheney before, so it's not an impossible task to get some teams to play us. Coupled with the suicidal 2022 football schedule, I'd say she's got a lot of improving to do in this regard.

Interesting factoid, Gonzaga has/had Dixie State, Texas, Alcorn State, Bellarmine (?), and Central Michigan coming to Spokane this month. How difficult would it be to pay those guys to stay an extra night and play in Cheney? Texas, that one might be tough as we'd struggle to afford them. But these other schools aren't exactly big money programs and would likely jump at the opportunity to play an extra game since their travel costs are already covered. If you go back to the 80s and 90s, teams tripping to the area commonly played both Eastern and Gonzaga over a long weekend.

Good idea! Augie could speak to the cooperation between Gonzaga and Eastern but my impression is Gonzaga thinks there are WAY too good to cooperate with us.
