Okay, now that he's been "transitioned"I can put this out there. Their program was struggling, so I didn't want to post anything that might hasten his departure.
I was two-feet from a conversation that Coach Stewart had with Coach Jerome Jenkins in 2007 following a Hornet road victory at UCD in which he made some comments that probably would've ended his tenure much sooner, had they gone public or been recorded.
The conversation was light-hearted at first, transitioning into borderline inappropriate discussion about life and women, and other personal things.
When the conversation turned to basketball, Coach Stewart made some highly disparaging comments about his white players. He trash-talked their skills openly and told Coach Jenkins how he couldn't win with a roster full of white boys. He said that the academic standards at UC Davis made it near impossible for him to recruit the "brothers" he needed to be successful. I interpreted this as a truthful revelation and a jab at CSUS at the same time. Coach Jenkins was visibly uncomfortable with the conversation as there were a couple others around and may have quipped about the improved graduation rate at CSUS before walking away.
Just thought I'd bring that to light for those interested.
