UNC Athletics Boosts Local Economy

shouldn't the word 'will' be changed to 'may' or might'? building the facilities is hardly ensuring the money will roll in...
 
There was a professor at ISU a few years back who released his own study similar to this. The amount that ISU athletics (and facilities) contributed to the local economy was very surprising. Does anybody remember who this was?

Nothing is a given, true, but by researching other like institutions, they can have a pretty good idea of what will happen. ISU's Holt Arena, for example, helps boost the local economy beyond ISU athletics (Simplot Games, State Wrestling, Dodge NCFR...).
 
Another major componet that they (suprisingly) neglected to metion is the renovation of the Butler-Hancock Sports Pavilion. The unversity now has an arena that can seat about 3,000 for concerts and other events, previously the largest facility in the city (also on campus) could only hold 1,200
