UNCo at home to finish

I have watched UNCo play a couple of times this season. They have good guard and wing play, but may be a bit vulnerable in the post. They have one of the best wings in the conference in #13. I think his name is Hume. That guy is a threat anywhere on the floor. The other thing I really like about this team is their coach. IMHO coach Smiley is an excelent coach. The Bears have had a sub par year and have missed some games as a result of Covid-19. For a while, their top guy was injured, but I believe he is back now. To win, we will need to defend the dribble drive, pick-n-roll, and defend #13 where ever he goes. Probably easier said than done.

We should be shooting better on our home floor, so I'm not too worried about that aspect of our game. Also, we should be quite familiar with their coaching philosophy, as he was here for a couple of years before getting a promotion at UNCo. We just need to keep improving right on through the full season. I feel like we will. :coffee:

Just want to see the team back to shooting better. Get the Nest bad shooting vibes out of our system. The UNC games are always a fight and I expect nothing less this time around. Here's hoping we can finish out strong.

Yeah, I expect a spirited competition as well. Both coaching staffs like one another, but want the bragging rights that go along with winning. As far as our players go, they really don't know each other. The player's motivation for winning is the same as any other game.

If UNCo allows us to get out and run, this game could become a blowout. However, I'm sure that they will make an effort to slow things down, much like Sac and MSU did. NAU tried to do that as well, with little effect.

What I want to see in these games is us imposing our tempo on them, not the other way around. :coffee:

Saturday's contest will be the traditional 'Senior's Day'. How should that be handled in this non counting year? We have already heard from a couple of our seniors, that they plan to return for their full senior year in the fall. Carlson and Bassett have said that they plan to return. Kozak has said that he is undecided and wanted to see how this yar went first. We have not heard anything from Davis or Brown. Do we honor all of the seniors and let those who return have a similar honor next year or do we just honor those who are planning to leave for what ever the reason may be? Or do we simply not have a senior day?

What are everyone's thoughts on this? And, does it matter? :coffee:

i think the team will be energized for these 2 games vs unc especially if suu happens to lose on thurs night. at this point if you can get the 1 seed you should really try to make it happen because ewu is looking to be the 3 seed or maybe 2 seed. you dont want to play ewu in the semi.

The way I'm seeing it, if we win Saturday we can only finish 1st or 2nd. It all depends on what happens in Portland on Saturday. Who knows how it might go down on a neutral floor in Boise. My feeling is that this thing is wide open and will come down to who gets hot at the right time. :coffee:

Almost every year we see these sorts of games down the stretch.

IMHO, what happens is that the lesser teams start playing beter as a team and all games have an added amount of pressure, making things a bit more dicey. That is why you have a hapless UI club beating a good MSU club, a middle of the pack team in ISU taking down the top dog on the road, and us getting a big scare from UNColorado. From here on out all games will be pressure cookers. The tougher, more mature teams will survive.

I expect Saturday's game will be another pressure cooker. Too bad we can't fill the arena. This is a game where having a loud and proud crowd might help. I think our guys will fight through the pressure once again. I will be there and be as loud as I can be. :coffee:

Well, one question was answered, but we still don't know who is staying or going. They will wait until the dust settles on the season before nailing all of that down.

"• Although some players are in the process of deciding if they will return next year, Weber State will recognize its five seniors prior to Saturday's game, Dontay Bassett, Isiah Brown, Cody Carlson, Kham Davis and Michal Kozak. "

Senior Night will happen at noon. :coffee:

Game cancelled.

Have not heard why...imagine COVID-19 positive results?
Not likely that it was positive results because they don't test between games. Somebody was either exposed or became ill. Nobody has said who or when. They cancelled for precautionary reasons. :coffee:
