So I missed the game, but I did hear the first part of the game where we were down 7-0.

I was surprised (pleasantly) to see a 14-10 win.

Some thoughts in just looking at the box score:

- Hats off to the defense, again. Minus that bubble screen for the TD, they gave up 3 points. Edgerson seemed to have a hell of a game with two picks, the second being HUGE.

- The offense is a hot mess. Lot of yardage, but not so many points. Is the three QB system the new rage, or are we just a wreck?

- Special teams. Great play in some aspects, but we can't make a field goal. Missed from 44, 38, and 32. Unacceptable. Oh Zach Brown, where art thou? Punting is stellar, and punt defense was great tonight. Loomis is great.

Well, a win is a win. Winning cures all, right?

I will be surprised if after today Ramirez is not the starting QB for the rest of the season. KM can only throw to a spot, and usually that spot has a defender standing in the way.

Penn only seems to feel comfortable running the ball.

Did I miss something, or did they only throw once to Dean?

Defense made some really nice plays. Stopped the run in it's tracks, and the pass defense looks much better.

Special teams won this game.

Why was Adams on the sideline until the second quarter (may not be completely accurate, but that's the way it seemed)

Is Bruce Barnum's contract up after this season....I hope so.

I wonder about the kicking myself. Field goals are our only problem, points after and punts are just fine. Why aren't they trying Kinsella on the field goals? I suppose there's a good reason, but... As for the offense - How do we pile up all the yardage and still not score? Obviously, it's a lot harder to run from the twenty than from the fifty. |We need to work harder on closing. Then, in past games turnovers have killed our drives. This time, well, I'd be inclined to say 2 fumbles, neither of them lost, and one interception is normal for a game. As for playing Adams (or not), no he didn't start, but yes, he did run what? 18? times for over a hundred yards. He probably could go for 25-30 runs. But you also could use him well into the danger zone for injuries. I wouldn't quibble with the coaches on this one.

I was wondering the same thing about Dean. I may have missed something, but I'm pretty sure I only saw him in for that one offensive play (where they threw to him but he was out of bounds). Once I noticed him not playing, I tried to watch for him, but I'm pretty sure he didn't see the field more than once.

And I think you're right, DJ didn't play the entire 1st quarter.

How far has the program fallen under Burton when a PSU win is reported on page C8. Six paragraphs, no photo and the report is "from staff and wire reports". We have basically become irrelevant in the Portland market.

come on, Vik. The Oregonian has ALWAYS put us on page eight. What's new on this? Is this another attempt run down Burton and his program? It has nothing to do with Burton. None of our coaches have had any luck with the Oregonian. Unless you go back to Mouse Davis - and that was a different time and certainly a different Oregonian. Jeez! We win one and you mange to twist it into a loss at the Oregonian!

The early part of the radio broadcast hinted that it was probably due to him putting the ball on the turf recently. Sort of like Shaq earlier in the season where a couple of fumbles leaves you watching from the sideline.

I'm not opposed to this in that it's your job to hold on to the ball, and if you don't, someone else will get a chance to.

Interesting, did anyone see Dean rip off his pads during the game? Something to look at moving forward.

Also, I heard that KM got pulled in the second half for his 15 yard penalty, not his play. If that's the case, I wonder how Nigel Burton decides how and who to discipline, with as many penalties his team has had this year. I am all for disciplining players, I just hope it remains consistent and lowers the penalty count moving forward.

It was in the third, after one of KM's runs, a defender cheap shot him in the pile and KM apparently dropped the ball on the defender when he was getting up.

KM had a great run that moved the chains in a crucial part of the game. The Viks were moving the ball and that penalty essentially killed the drive. Had they lost that penalty could have really proven costly.
