Hard to believe we are considered to be as low as #5.

I'm honestly ok with the ranking.....people probably look at the effect losing Taiwan and JC may have on the team. Besides, these pre-season polls are meaningless anyway. And look at our number 1 ranking at the end of the regular season and the fact that we only got the number 5 seed. I personally hope we never lose the chip on our collective shoulders.

I don't really concern myself with preseason polls, but it is pretty hard to defend Appalachian State- losing a lot of D starters- as #1. Then they place Delaware at #3, and they lost a lot more starters than us including, I believe, their entire DB corps. And then they picked William and Mary #4, after totally flopping in the first round at home.

Again, I don't really care, it's just that the picks above us are a little suspect. Maybe they are taking heavy account of the fact we travel 7 times and could struggle in that first month.

Greetings all!! A TRUE Eagle fan here. That's right, a TRUE BLUE Georgia Southern Eagles fan. With practically everyone returning from a semifinal playoff team, we plan on meeting you guys somewhere along the line this year in the playoffs. Last year was a complete rebuild for us- new coaches, new offense, etc. But we lined up anyway and after a few early setbacks, we figured out we could play with anyone. We whipped #1 Crappalachain in OT, embarrassed South Carolina State in the first round of the playoffs, smacked W&M in the mouth in the second round and avenged a regular season loss to Wofford in the 3rd round all while having more of our fans at their stadium than they had. At Delaware we fumbled away our chances and didn't capitalize on our breaks. Should have won, but being a young team, we just couldn't overcome the mistakes.
That said, we'll be following yall out of the corner of our eye and hopefully there'll be two sets of Eagles in the NC this year. Good luck and come see us at http://www.gsufans.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Welcome to our board. It appears Eagles on both sides of the country have high hopes and expectations for the upcoming year. We also return many key players and are looking forward to seeing the development of other upcoming players who showed great promise last year. Yes, the ball bounced our way on several occasions but our outstanding coaching staff and leaders on the team made the most of those gratuitous situations and you know the results.
I've already made my hotel reservations at the Marriott Courtyard in Plano so hope to see you at the tailgate party in Frisco. In fact, I'll meet you at fun zone @ noon on Saturday Jan 7 2012. Let me know how to identify you.
We can both proudly say "GO EAGLES"

Welcome oldfart! I signed up as RED over there on gsufans a couple weeks back. Still haven't gotten around to posting over there. Looking forward to this season and an all Eagle final!

This pretty much sums us up. The bald guy in the video is Erk Russell and he is a legend. He restarted the program in 81, won 3 NCs. Went 15-0 with a NC in 89 before retiring. We've won 3 more NCs on the backs of his assistants. Erk passed away in 2006, but will never be forgotten. Thanks for having me on the board. Can't wait for the season to start!!!

Red Eagles and Blue Eagles playing for football for a National Championship in the state of Texas... you couldn't get more American than that. :D
