Interesting to see that Quilted Northern has this horrid record, and then this very well traveled Dallas Anglin via Hofstra, College of Southern Idaho, Southern Mississippi is eligible and they beat Colorado State straight away, they have 3 close losses to Denver, Idaho and a blow out to Miss State, they beat EWU, but they probably are a much better team with him now, than their record suggests. He's averaging 17.5 pts in his first 6 games.

I'm looking for one thing primarily tonight -- who among Cannon, Richardson, Gittens, and Baker will step up and contribute with some buckets, primarily from beyond the arc?
The interior offense is outstanding at this point, with Bolomboy, Hill, and Braxton. But someone other than Senglin needs to be a threat from the guard/wing position.

This game is so BORING!!!! 20 fouls in the first half and there is still 1:50 left in the first half...
Weber has lost their rhythm cuz play is stopped so much :wall:

68 freethrow attempts combined 34 apiece, what the heck?

Refs need to learn how to put their whistles away

The bald ref was atrocious. Just terrible. His inability to make correct calls affected my overall enjoyment of the game. I demand a partial refund of my ticket price for having to tolerate his inability to do his job correctly. If I was that bad at my job, I'd be unemployed...

And... what a great job by the bench. 34 points from them. After railing early in the season about Rahe's tight rotation, I will tell you that I'm sure enjoying his better use of the bench in the last several games. I'm sure glad he (obviously) read my tirades here and did something about it!

John, Hill and Gittens were stellar!

I couldn't agree more. However, that is not the ref's fault. The BSC Director of Officiating has demanded it; To the exclusion of other parts of the game. The BSC officials are so focused on hand checking that we are going to see a lot of this. The rest of the country won't be calling games that way, so it will only hurt us when it comes to post season play. To the refs credit, they got tired of blowing their whistles in the last 5 minutes and the players had a few moments of clarity. At least the game was cleanly played. :twocents:

I hate to tell you this, Olds, but freedom of movement is a point of emphasis this year for all leagues. It is an NCAA mandate, not a Big Sky point. Teams are going to have to adjust. Keep your hands down and move your feet. And you know most of these officials work more than one league, right?

we haven't lose to UNC yet have we at home?

Correct. Weber State is now 10-0 against Northern Colorado, in Ogden (14-5 overall).

Though it took overtime to beat Northern Colorado in Ogden in the Big Sky Tournament in March 2014.

You are correct that it has been an NCAA point of emphasis.

You are not right about the rest of it. All of the conferences in the western US have formed a consortium for officiating, except the BSC. We are the only league not sharing officials, training, scheduling, and administration. The BSC is on an island. The PAC12, MWC, WAC, WCC, SWC, and Big West are all following NCAA guidelines with consistent training and administration. Not the BSC. We chose to go it alone, do our own thing, and keep Marla in her job. Fullerton refused to let her go. If the BSC wants to join the rest of the world, the presidents will need to weigh in on it. :wall:

Interesting, I was not aware of that Olds. I'm assuming this is a fairly recent development, because I used to see Big Sky officials working in a number of other western leagues.

I have no idea what Olds is talking about...BSC officials are working various leagues as you said Bengal....I happen to check officials on box scores all the time and they are working all over the place...just last night Brett Nansel worked a Big West game, Jimmy Casas worked a MWC game, and Deldre Carr worked a WCC game...I have also seen Chris Rastatler, Charles Rydzak(who worked your game last night) and Gregory Nixon working Pac12 games...Olds, you better know what you're talking about before you post...you are going to have to check your facts first...if you can prove me wrong, do it....

The consortium was formed over the summer. The PAC12 was one of the leaders. They had the money and the pull to get it organized. Fullerton was the only fool. :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall:

Don't believe it? Ask your AD, or better yet, ask Fullerton.

That proves there is a consortium, not that we don't share refs...WE SHARE REFS....prove to me we don't share refs....are you telling me that Jimmy Casas doesn't work BSC games???? Are you telling me Gregory Nixon doesn't work BSC games??? Are you telling me Deldre Carr doesn't work BSC games???

Officials are independent contractors with no benefits or ties to bind them to any one conference...they couldn't make a living if they could only ref one conference...some of these ref make as much as $2000 a game for long time refs with good reps....almost all make at least $1000 a game to take crap from fans like me...

The last time I spoke with a BSC ref directly, about 2 years ago, they were getting $300 to $500 per game. Although they may not be a direct employee of the BSC, they are certainly approved, assigned, trained, and administered by the BSC. If they are injured on the job, I believe they get compensated for it. They are not totally independent contractors. They can be suspended and fired. They are evaluated. If they were independent, there would be no need for the BSC to be in it at all. Each school could just hire their own. Wouldn't that be just dandy?

Really, the NCAA needs to take it all over and run the whole country. The whole consortium thing was to even out pay scales, standardize training, lower overall costs, and improve consistency. Once again, I would ask you to check in with your AD. :coffee:

OK Olds...you say they are not independent and you try to prove that by saying they can be "suspended or fired" and they are "evaluated"...I believe even if you are independent you can be suspended or fired and evaluated so that proves nothing.....you say "I believe they get compensated" if they are injured on the job, that should stand up in court.....and you try to imply that because the BSC is involved, that shows they are not independent...all that shows is that the BSC is involved in making sure that all their games have refs assigned and eliminating the schools from ref selection should be obvious even to you Olds...try again to prove that these BSC refs don't work other conferences Olds....c'mon Olds try....you can't do it because they all work numerous conferences and it doesn't fit your story....I would suggest YOU check with YOUR AD OLDS....

The three most boring games I have watched this season were all conference games. There was no flow or rhythm. It almost seemed as if the refs thought we were there to watch them call the game. Saturday's game against UNCO was absolutely frustrating to watch. I heard over and over and over again after the game about how awful the refs were especially the hairless wonder. I don't care how it happens, but the Sky deserves better refs. If being part of a consortium is the way to do it. Then fine, the league needs to join. I'm not sure it would do much to improve our reffing, because the Sky would still get the bottom-feeders. The least experienced refs would work the lower conferences and since we are joining last, I'm sure we would get the worst refs. Ugh!! No matter, this is Dougs fault and it needs to be fixed. The reffing since conference started has been utterly atrocious.
