Time to vent! I've been attending Weber games since the mid sixties. I've seen many people come and go. Coaches, players and Athletic Directors. Some good some bad. I dropped my season tickets 4 years ago because I'd had enough. Do people realize that Weber hasn't been to the NCAA since 2016? It won't happen again this year. That makes 7 seasons of this dumpster fire. I'm sure those that get on this site get it but so many others do not. It appears the Administration is of that group.
When I was growing up Weber was the Big Sky. We were the team to beat. We had great players and great coaches. Over the years we have sadly been replaced as the premier team to an also ran. This year we are probably the worst team in the league. How does that Happen!!!!! We have the resources, and facilities to be at the top. But we've settled. We've settled for far too long.
I had emailed our last AD about these issues and grievances but sadly was ignored and he jumped ship 2 months later. Laughing all the way. He didn't want anything to do with Weber's b-ball issues.
We all knew that Rahe had stayed a couple of years too long. When he left and he delayed his announcement, it put Weber in a huge bind. By delaying, ( I think he did this with intent so Weber almost had to hire Duft) the fix was in and Duft was hired. I get that Weber didn't want to lose existing players and it was the easy thing to do. What they should have done is do a national search. If they lost some players, so be it. Weber had a ton of seniors that were leaving already. It was the perfect time to start over. Get the right coach even if it took a few weeks. The new coach would have been able to keep some players and bring in his own as well.
I also know of the Lillard pressure to keep Duft. So what! What is the right thing for the program. It's to get the right coach not the convenient coach. Let's hope they get the right coach in football. I've rambled enough but I've wanted to do this for at least 5 years. Cheers!
