Sac state has two wins this year and three loses.
They got blown out at UNLV to open the year 38-3 in a game that was not even close.
They followed up that game with a big loss to Cal Poly 19-38.
Then losing once again to EWU at home 56-30
All of these losses are to very good teams, but it is obvious that against quality competition their defense really struggles.

Their two wins:
31-14 win at PSU. Their only real quality win of the year and their first in Portland in two decades. This game shows that Suc state has the potential to play a good game and can pose a real threat to WSU.

38-17 win against Idanno State in Sucramento. This was a game of big plays with several INT's returned for TD's, big pass plays, etc. ISU has obviously given up for the year and Suc State is 2-1 in the BSC and on paper has a shot for the conference championship and playoffs.

Suc state has a transfer RB from Washington and a quality QB who can throw the ball well. Their weakness is the defense as the offense against FCS competition is decent, especially against Big Sky teams.

The keys to this game in my opinion are:
1. Pressure the QB and don't let him have time to make big pass plays.
2. No turnovers - Cameron needs to be careful with INT's. ISU gave up 2 TD's as pic 6's and that blew the game wide open for Suc State.
3. Establish the run with Mr. Smith and Mr. Bolen so as to open up the passing game. The Sac State defense is not deep enough to cover both the run and pass defense so a balanced attack is critical.
4. Focus on this game and don't think about Oct 31.

The spread on this game, as calculated by Sagarin Predictor is 17.27 with Weber as the heavy favorite.
But, as we learned against MSU, who is favored does not matter as much as showing up and making plays.

Ok, first of all, if you're going to talk smack against us, at least get your facts straight. Terrance Dailey is a RB transfer from Washington, not QB. The game against UNLV was close almost to the end of the 3rd quarter and then it fell apart. We had four turnovers against EWU, two deep in their territory which killed the momentum we had on offense and the other two times we gave Eastern a short field. Hard to not allow the other team to score on a short field with momentum.

I know we have never won in Ogden, but anything is possible. And, can you really call us "Suc State" after how bad ISU has looked over the past 2 years. Sperbeck has done a great job at righting the ship...much the way Coach Mac has done there. Look forward to an entertaining ballgame.

Go Hornets!!!

OK, fair enough. Thanks for correcting some points I made in my previous post.

As far as smack is concerned, nobody will ever suck as much as ISU so I accept your point. It is all meant to be in good sport and nothing personal. I have read some Sac fans refer to us as "BBQ U" in reference to Weber Grills, so I am just returning the favor.
Weber State University is named after John Henry Weber who was a mountain-man and trapper in the area in 1825-6. He happened to spend the winter next to an unnamed river which subsequently was named after him, which led to the naming of the county and ultimately the University. There is some debate over how he pronounced his name "Webber or Weeber" but the modern consensus is that it is pronounced "weeber"
See the following link for the history of his life: http://www.media.utah.edu/UHE/w/WEBER,JOHN.html

Here is to a good game on Saturday.
