That guy must be one helluva interview, because he has 9 lives in the football world. Fired at WSU, gets head job at Weber State. Let go at Weber, picked up by Sac State and given HC job. He really hasn't done anything in those three jobs that would give you confidence. His best spell was at Eastern.

Looks like Sears is really knocking it out of the park at Suck St.

You mean the Suck St. that we had to come from behind to beat just two weeks ago? That one?

Say what you want about what Sears has done in Sacramento, when he was DC here he knew how to recruit and coach kids that could play defense.

Don't get me wrong, I wish no ill will on the man, but I would be shocked it he is a head coach again after the SAC St gig. WSU can be rough on any coach so I'm not counting that against him, but maybe Sears is just meant to be a coordinator some where.

SUU and PSU have tough schedules remaining but I think they're both legit.

SUU has won its last two games 44-0 and since the week 2 debacle at SDSU has given up a total of 10 points in 4 games. Include the 12 scored on them by USU and that's less than 5 pts per.

I think SUU is a very good team, if not somewhat incomplete. They're kind of like the antithesis of EWU in that they have a great defense, but pretty mediocre offense. I also think the teams they have beaten recently aren't all that great. Still, it's hard to ignore the results. I think the reason that I'm not higher on them is because of that SDSU game, and I think they'll lose at least one more game in the Big Sky, probably to PSU. Right now my top 3 are:

PSU (Yeah, I know...but they look like a more complete team right now than we do.)
Eastern
SUU

Agreed. His teams really seem to struggle offensively. If he isn't able to turn things around at Sacto, he'll probably be relegated to being an Asst. somewhere, which is not necessarily a bad thing.

DTR has a point, though. Sherrit, Williams, the Johnson brothers, Ceja, Jolly, Jesse Hoffman, etc. were all Wulff/Sears recruits. We haven't had a group defensively that's been close to that quality that's been recruited during the Baldwin era. Maybe it was just blind luck, but I just tend to think that Coach B is more of an offensive-minded talent, and his teams tend to reflect that.

I see one of the Johnson bros traveling with the team, don't know if he is a grad asst or being paid. Regardless he would be a good recruiter for defensive guys as would Jase Butorac for o-linemen.
