Updated Coaches Poll

Looks like the FCS is one big clusterf*** right now. Coastal Carolina at the top? NDSU still number two? The Big Sky is well represented, but there is no way this poll is even close to accurate.

Coastal Carolina at #1? Hmm, guess I need to get more familiar with their body of work. I'm automatically biased against them because it just seems like Big South teams take a huge dump every year in the playoffs.

They were pretty competitive last year, but the #1 had me scratching my head.

That Poll is laughable in my opinion. We're probably the only team in the FCS Top 25 that could put up over 35 on Oregon. For that matter, we're probably one of the only teams on the West Coast period that could put up over 35 on Oregon. How we dropped 1 spot after losing to an FBS Championship team I'll never know. The FCS top 10 will sort itself out in the next few weeks. I don't think anyone really knows who the true #1 is yet. All I know is that we need to take down N. Iowa this week. We can't just be happy with a good showing vs Oregon. They will be ready to play us.

go eags!

If we are going to get a #1 seed, even if we play flawless it will take 5-6 weeks for us to get to the top. Tese pools are way behind the times.

It was a really tough week for ranking the top and bottom half of the pool. If the long time theory that the coaches poll is mostly done by S.I.D's. is true, this really isn't surprising. We are blessed with Dave Cook but he's a rarity for S.I.D.'s in his ability to get game recaps, stats, and previews up in a timely fashion. I've got to imaging he's one of the hardest working people in the athletic department from Saturday morning through Monday with all the info he has to get out. Most programs don't even upload preview articles to their website until Tuesday or Wednesday.

Now you're expecting these same people to make informed decisions based on dozens of games, number of starters back from last season, injuries, etc.

The polls will work themselves out in a few weeks. This year just happens to be a little crazier than normal.

My AGS Poll (probably should have ranked Samford but it's tough not to miss one or two).

1: Villanova Wildcats
2: Sam Houston State Bearkats
3: Coastal Carolina Chanticleers
4: Eastern Washington Eagles
5: Illinois State Redbirds
6: North Dakota State Bison
7: South Dakota State Jackrabbits
8: Jacksonville State Gamecocks
9: Montana Grizzlies
10: Chattanooga Mocs
11: Montana State Bobcats
12: Northern Iowa Panthers
13: Cal Poly Mustangs
14: New Hampshire Wildcats
15: James Madison Dukes
16: Fordham Rams
17: Indiana State Sycamores
18: Liberty Flames
19: Southeastern Louisiana Lions
20: Richmond Spiders
21: Western Illinois Leathernecks
22: Northern Arizona Lumberjacks
23: Youngstown State Penguins
24: Idaho State Bengals
25: North Dakota

Wow. Big Sky takes the pole on this one (humor). Know it's early, but this poll "feels" off base. Montana would have been #1 if they had taken care of business. EWU takes care of business at UNI and will start the inevitable climb back into the top seeds. I like Coastal Carolina, not many threats on their schedule the rest of the way until Liberty end of season. Guess will know what they look like after Montana plays them. *side note: the recent announcement of CC's move to FBS and the light schedule and now #1.... Lucky Chanticleers.
