USA Today and Weber's play-in game

USA Today posted the following article this morning about the projected NCAA tournament teams. They have Weber State playing Southern in the play-in game, with the winner meeting Wichita State in a 16:1 matchup. How do we feel about this? Glad to be mentioned, or dissed at being a play-in team?

Well...at very least it isn't Lunardi saying it. But it is starting to look more and more likely that Weber will end up being in a play in game, IF AND WHEN THE CATS finally win the conference tournament. Southern though?? Really?? The Big Sky has fallen to the level of the SWAC? :yikes:

Get a clue about what?

Almost every mock has us as a 16 seed. A few conference tournaments upsets may keep us out of a first four game. It would take 5 upsets in small conference tournaments to get us up to a 15 seed. Our RPI is just not moving up.

Sorry for snapping at you purple speedo banana holder :bananahump:

I re read your post, a 16 is a worst case scenario playing a 1. Playing a 16 is not a possibility

I think most everyone on this forum can agree on two things.

1. Weber will be a 16 :flag: :flag:

2. WeberSki is a DOUCHE!!! :shit: :puke:

Researchers say habitual electronic provocateurs have several of these serious personality issues.

At least one writer does not have Weber playing in the play-in game.
Daniel Evans has the Cats playing in the 1st round vs.....wait for it......Syracuse in Buffalo, NY.

Could we trade to play Arizona in San Diego (another 1/16 matchup)? He did have Weber as a 15 playing Kansas in St. Louis before.....

Syracuse would be the worst case scenario. Can you imagine WSU trying to break their zone. :wall:

Ouch, no I don't want to imagine that. The BSC can't be the joke of the tourney again! It really doesn't take a good zone to paralyze Weber and I think any team they face will be ready to throw one at them. They are going to need Dev, JR, Senglin, and even Fulton to shoot out of there minds from the arc. They will be facing a zone, I hope they play the game of their lives.

I'm looking at this as if the glass is half-full. Reality is, is that Weber has only really been curb stomped by UNCO, and that was almost two months ago. Every team has thrown a zone at the Cats, and during that time Weber has lost three more times, but were in the game in all three instances, and probably should have won two of those games (both OT games, which came down to a lucky as hell 75' and a three over Tres). Montana State tried exclusively play zone against Weber on Saturday, and the Cats took total advantage of the Bobs.

To me the difference is when J-Rich is playing well or not. When he plays poorly, the offense ends up becoming stagnant and when he is hitting his shots and moving, so do the Cats. To me, his worst game of the season was against the Hornets at their place, and Weber barely lost.

So...I think the Cats are starting to understand how to play against the zone. Teams, especially in the Big Sky, can't try to play Weber man to man, Weber is to quick and big.

All this speculation on seeding for teams like Weber is a waste of time at this point in the season. The "bracketologists" are seeding the 14s, 15s and 16s assuming that the team currently in 1st place in their conference will win their conference tourneys. But that ain't gonna happen.
Let's wait to see if Weber can win the BSC tourney and then see who else wins theirs. If just a couple of 3rd and 4th place teams in low end mid-major conferences end up winning their conference tourneys that will move some teams from a 16 to a 15, or a 15 to a 14.
