A quick schedule change this afternoon takes USU off the schedule and the team will head up to Boise for a game at 2pm Sunday.

Here's the link for that game against Boise State.

So, that wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Boise is a much better team and the Wildcats hung in there.

The good - Carlson had a nice game, 17 pts on 6-7 from the field and 2-2 from deep, with two steals. Only 4 rebs in 28 mins though. WSU shot 85% FT. Held BSU to 41% shooting with lots of effort on defense, although they shot 42% from 3. 8 steals, Kozak had 3 blocks and 11 rebs. Nice to see Bassett on the floor. Jones has 3 steals in 15 minutes.

The bad - Shot 36% for the game and a horrible 24% from 3. Outrebounded by 8 and gave up 11 ORs. Brown has been strong offensively but Boise keyed on him and he got 18 pts but on 4-11 shooting.

Seems more similar to last year, poor shooting, especially from 3, and poor rebounding. But BSU is a really good team, won at BYU, lost a close one at ranked Houston. Games Friday and Sunday at PSU will show if there has been much progress, they played Washington State pretty tough today.

Bingo! Also they turn the ball over frequently. Last year they lost a number of games shooting a higher shot percentage but lost due to turnovers and offensive rebounds. They desperately need to improve in these areas. They played Boise tough...so that is good...but to win these games, improvement on the boards and ball control are needed. There is also the trend of fading in the last 5-7 minutes of a game, that will take focus and mental toughness to improve on, too.
