The Ute men's basketball team has also agreed to a four-game home-and-home series with Boise State, starting in 2011 in Salt Lake City. The Utes will discontinue a home-and-home series with Weber State, but hope to host the Wildcats in coming years. Future games with Utah State have not been determined.

we have played the utes from 1973 to 2010. There have been only 3 seasons where we have not had a game with the utes since '73 - 1974, 1975 and 1993.

Overall we are 13-25 vs Utah, 10-8 in Ogden. We won the last game against Utah which was last season at the Dee winning 83-76. We even beat them once when they were ranked #17: 1977 Weber State 71, No. 17 Utah 61.

i really hope we don't play them anymore if it will only be in salt lake.

NOV 20 is our game @ Utah this yr.

to think we when we beat them last yr that was the last game Utah had at the Dee...

The Utes sure think they are pretty Damn cool since joining the Pac 10, I almost hate Utah as much as BYU, they are both way too cocky.

what would be a reason we would want to go to salt lake every yr? and if we beat them in Nov will they say nevermind to salt lake only too?

We all saw this coming.

Since Utah thinks its a private institution maybe we should stop giving them state funds. They are so much better than all the other state schools.

Wow, they were the second choice of the PAC whatever... What a bunch a bull shiz. Screw the U, its always been as bad as the Y. Hell, maybe its worse, I've always hated the Y the most, but now...I don't know. At least the Y will still come to Ogden. It would be nice if all the Utah schools stopped playing the futes.

no reason to hate Miami. they have nothing to do with this thread.

The Univeristy of Utah can take a hike. They need to open their eyes and realize that they are going to the pac-12 because of football, and strickly that purpose. Every year in basketball they will be in the bottom fourth of the conference. Do they really think that they can compete on that level and win basketball games? They need to grow a pair and re-continue the rivalry with home and home with WSU.Its a heathly series that always has good games. it just goes to show you they are threatened by WSU.

I was also thinking, would this be a good time to start two new relationships with home and homes begining with SUU and UVU? I know that we play at SUU this year, but I think it would make sense and also be fun to have the two teams begin a good series. I wouldnt mind playing at UVU every other year. :) With University of Utah gone, we should serioulsy look into getting home and home with those two schools.

I really think that The Wizard of Ogden will give them the bird. No more games after this one unless the U of U will come to Ogden. I know the coach doesn't like their Mens Basketball Coach or the AD at the U of U. This (UofU)is for Catcat who seems to think that everyone on here is talking about U of Miami when we say "the U".

I agree with everyone on this thread. I used to follow the Utes and have been on their campus many times over the years, attended many sporting and cultural events up there. No more. They will never get another dime out of me. When I find out that a business is sponsering one of their events, that business will never see my face again. I am washing my hands of anything Yewty. As far as I am concerned, that school down south does not exist. In fact, I have no recolection of why or who I am writing about. :?

I am hating the U (Miami name theft) more and more every year. If we can't play them in Ogden we should't play them ever again. At least we will probably win this November.

Good riddance then. I too am starting to dislike them more and more. The fan base is becoming more and more obnoxious. It's not like playing Weber would hurt the RPI in basketball at all.

It also annoying me that none of the local newspapers having even pointed it out at all. I commented on one story the SL Trib had about it and then they erased the story.

I was at the first ever Utah game in Ogden back in the late 70s which we won. I was at the last ever Utah game in Ogden just last season which we also won. This is sad news for the long series and rivalry we had with them. Something tells me these changes BYU and Utah are seeing in basketball because of football isn't making everyone happy on their side either. I hope we see them back in the Dee soon.

Is Utah too good to go up to Logan to?

To me, at least, I think it shows which school is better between the Y and the U (both suck balls). The Y, to my knowledge, hasn't made any announcements that they are ending their series with Weber. They aren't too good to come to Ogden. Utah, is by far, the worst school in the state. Really, I hope they act this conceited with USU too. Then they will lose two instate rivals because of their arrogance.

Watching Boylen and the current Utes basketball program is a little like watching a train wreck. Remember, basketball has been king at that school for most of their history. Now their crowds have shrunk to nothing (Boylen's grating personality and poor coaching have a lot to do with it, but pricey football tickets are also a culprit as Ute fans say they can't afford both), they had a serious walk-out of players from their program this past year, he is selling JC transfers as the answer this year (and we know how sketchy JCs can be), they will most likely be in the bottom 4th of the MWC...again, and now they turn their back on WSU. It must be hard on real Utah fans who remember Sweet 16 appearances. But most Ute fans are new comers anyway and they sure don't follow their basketball team anymore (I must have spotted at least 8 Utah shirts on fans visiting last year). I can tell you that Boylen really did not like getting beat last year and I think he forsees more losses to us in the future. He barely touched Rahe's hand let alone shook it as he stormed out. Just imagine entering the PAC and heading for the basketball basement, then having to go 0-fer in your own state in preseason scheduling. I, for one, am enjoying their demise!

For me it is home and home or nothing and I think most Weber fans don't care a lot either as there is no crowd bump when the Utes come to the Dee. BYU and USU, now that would be a different story.

I too was at the first ever game Utah game at Weber. I can't believe it's been that long. Cool how we won the first and the last times in Ogden. Oh yeah, screw the utes

according to the sub standard exaggerator, Utah will make one more trip to the Dee, next year. Of course this could all change over the course of the year but who knows.

SALT LAKE CITY — Utah's move to the Pac-12 won't come with the cost of losing its rivalry with BYU - at least in football and men's basketball.

It will, however, eventually bring an end to a home-and-home men's basketball series between Utah and Weber State. Existing contracts call for a 2010-11 meeting in Salt Lake City and a 2011-12 date in Ogden.

Beyond that, the Utes announced they "hope to host the Wildcats in coming years."

The teams have played each year since 1994, alternating locations on an annual basis. That was also the case from 1979-92, the series was interrupted in 1993.

After an initial meeting in Salt Lake City in 1973, Utah and Weber State played twice a season (once at each school) in 1976, 1977 and 1978.

The Utes lead the overall series 25-13, but the Wildcats have a 10-8 edge in Ogden.

"It's always been such a great game for our program and for our fans and for us. Our players enjoy it," said Weber State coach Randy Rahe. "To get them into our building has always been a special thing for us."

From the Wildcats' perspective, he added, it's very disappointing.

"We just hate to lose it. Honestly, we just really hate to lose that opportunity to get them into our building," Rahe said. "But times change, obviously, and we are aware of that."

Rahe noted that perhaps it was bound to happen eventually with Utah's move to the Pac-12. Even so, Weber State hopes to remain on the Utes' schedule.

"We want to play them and if that means going to their place every year we definitely want to play them," Rahe said. "Hopefully they'll be good enough to allow us to come in there."

It'll most likely evolve into a guarantee game for Weber State and Rahe said the Wildcats would definitely be willing to do that.

"Hopefully we can do that every year," he continued. "We'd like to pencil that in. I know it would be great for our fans. It's close enough that our fans will be able to come and see and that type of thing. No question about it. We want to continue to play them even if it's in that capacity."

Utah's men's basketball schedules will be built around an 18-game Pac-12 slate that will include non-division play. The Utes have also signed four-year non-conference home-and-home agreements with Boise State and BYU. The series with the Broncos begins this season and the one with the Cougars starts in 2011. The latter will also be played on the second Saturday in December, beginning in Salt Lake City.

Future games between Utah and Utah State have yet to be determined.

Stop scheduling them, and when they are in need of another home game and they come to Weber and ask us if they will come play at the HC, I hope Weber's AD flat out says NO

Another thing that baffles me Is what makes Boise State so special?
