Utah Valley @ Portland State

I really hope we wipe the floor with them tonight. Mostly because my friend is from Utah and so he and I are going at it with this game. ;)

Winning Ugly. That should be the summation for non-conference season thus far (well, only two more non-conference games to go, but they are much later).

Am I bad for being critical in a 20 point win? This should have been a 35 point win. Utah Valley is not a strong program.

Our three shooting sucked, our free throw shooting wasn't much better, and how do we let another guard go for 20+ points.

Finally Dane took a shot or two. Not sure if Geving told him to or not, but he needs to pop it when he's open. We over passed on a couple of possessions tonight where guys gave up wide open threes to give to less open threes.

Nice defense by Guede tonight. Fantastic. Also, Harriel and Odum were key in pushing us to a 20 point lead in the 2nd half.

On to conference play. I hope we can get some atmosphere at The Stott, as tonight was pretty lame...

I disagree with Coach Geving. “We just played hard,” Geving said. “We talked about taking a little more pride in stopping penetration and not let guys beat you off the bounce all the time." Isiah Williams from Utah Valley scored 26 points, most of which came from dribble penetration. I thought the Viks still did a poor job on this, especially help from down low when Williams beat his man. Just glad the Viks won and will get Coleman and Nelson back in the near future.

Portland State 73, Utah Valley 53: Charles Odum's
17 points, team defense help snap three-game skid
