It also looks like a SLC tournament is being discussed... https://twitter.com/ScottyG1280/status/736010017267056640?s=01

That's only good for Weber if it's in addition to the h&h games scheduled. I don't want to lose home games against in state teams.

I can support this as long as it is not every year, it doesn't take the place of any H&H arrangements, It is never a home game for any single team, and all monies are split evenly. If any schools season ticket holders get a ticket, then all schools season ticket holders should as well. This should not be a home game for anybody. If it turns out that way, then it should be a big money game for everyone else.

I believe that the NCAA allows one preseason tournament per year. That is why I wouldn't want it every year. Last year YBU sold us on a neutral site game that turned out to be a home game for them. It was included in their season ticket package. I will never support such a thing in the future unless both schools season ticket holders are given a seat, or neither are. Students should also be accommodated. We did get a little money from YBU, but it was not enough for a money, home game. What it really was is a two for one arrangement. I don't like that with any in-state schools. I don't care if they think they are big shizz.

I'm sure that nobody cares about my opinion, but there it is.

I don't mind a tourney if it is every 3 years after the H&H series have been completed, assuming Utah plays us H&H. If not I say screw it and stick to yearly H&H series with BYU, Utah State and Valley.

Speaking of Valley, they aren't even in discussion for this tournament? Or Southern Utah for that matter :?

I would like to respectfully disagree that Hill took control of coach K on this issue. I think it is much more likely that President Pershing took control of Hill. While the axing of the Weebs and the Ags from their schedule caused little consternation, the silly excuses the U had for canceling the Y series got the legislature in the act. Then you had representatives from Cache, Box Elder, Weber, Davis, Utah and even Salt Lake counties (and surely others) who were quick to remind the egos that run lose on the hill who actually writes their checks.

My impression has been that from the very outset that Coach Koward has been Hill's lapdog and does his bidding. I think the canceling of in-state basketball games came from Hill's enormous ego and he enjoyed every second as they played out their self-perceived superiority.

One thing is for sure, that university is an embarrassment to this state in numerous ways...

Good point. I think you may be on to something there. Why is the State of Utah continuing to give any funding to UU, considering that they have virtually declared their separation from, and unwillingness to belong with the rest of the State on any level. The State should withdraw all funding and give them the independence that they want. Then the State could concentrate its efforts on the institutions who want to be State institutions. Sounds like a win/win situation for everybody. They can change their name to what it really should be, Huntsman U. The new mascot, an owl, could go around saying: 'Hu, hu'. Perfect....
