Next up for the Wildcats is the Wolverines of Utah Valley and I think its safe to say this is the best UVU team since Ronnie Price played for them.
WSU has 1 D1 on the season and UVU has 4 D1 wins with victories over Denver and @BYU. UVU lost to USU by 1 and also lost to the Utes by 7
UVU is loaded this year with a lot of drop downs from BYU, Utah, and 1 from Xavier.
Weber better damn well start seeing UVU as a rivalry game because if they don't they will get blown out of the DEE by 20+
Sadly I'm not super optimistic in Weber's chances in this game.

Consider it will have been 10 dayss since the last D1 game. Is there really alot to get excited about? This is the best UVU team that has ever come to the DEC. I hope we can keep it close. This team has so many areas to improve I am just not sure how much better we can be. Has the team found a leader in the last 10 days, how about a knack for rebounding? chemistry? Lots of questions and so few answers.

To answer some of 02's questions.

1. Rebounding...well, it has gotten somewhat better. Still a lot of standing around. Jordan Dallas is starting to improve and he is figuring out what he needs to do to get rebounds and to score points. No matter, we need Hill and Braxton to stay on the floor. Waaaaay too much fouling by them. I do think it wouldn't hurt much putting Brendan Morris in for a few mins when our other guys get into foul trouble. He is a good shooter, so can spread the offense, rebounds well, and can hit a foul shot. No his defense isn't great, but none of the other bigs play defense either.

2. Team Chemistry...granted we played NCCAA (National Christian Colleges Athletic Association DII for Brandon Garside and also, Fassel played in the late 80s) West Coast Baptist last week, but the team seems to be meshing a bit better and understanding their roles. Still feel that Dusty should start at the 3, but if Ryan comes in off the bench, he is worthless. Whereas when he starts he plays a lot better.

3. Leadership...as Randy has said before, "this is Jeremy's team." That is our leader. When he plays team ball our team prospers and puts itself in a position to win. When he doesn't, well, we lose to Denver at home.

Just had a look at their roster. Safe to say Weber won't be getting their first win in Utah County next season. They'll return all of their starters and only lose one senior that contributes much, plus they add 3 D-1 transfers that are redshirting this season. At least for now, Pope is all about using the transfer. I counted 11 transfers on their roster, 3 from BYU, 1 from Utah, 1 from Xavier, 1 from Oklahoma, and 5 from JC/Lower Div. And that doesn't count Stutzman who originally committed to San Fran but never enrolled. They also have a local kid in Schenck from Eden who prepped at Weber HS.

Weber State leads the series 5-4, with all 4 loses at UVU. So, will this be the Wolverines 1st win in Ogden to tie the series up? The stats so far this year are in their favor. The question might be, how close of a game, score/competitive - wise, will it be?

Here's wishing the Wildcats will show tough, making it an upset win at the DEE!! (Never expected to be saying "upset" vs. UVU at the DEC, of all things.) Good Luck Wildcats!

Looks like "Super Powerful because they beat BYU, lost by one to USU and lost close to Utah and Weber would be lucky to beat in an "upset" Orem University" remains winless in Ogden.

Great game last night. It was a good win and will be a great confidence booster going into our game in Logan

GO WEBER

Yes indeed...great win, probably the highlight win of this season's OOC for the Wildcats. Gave the Wolverines a reverse taste of their own winning formula. Good time to be hitting at a decent rate, the 3's & FTs!!

Hope it's enough to get a true "UPSET" win in Logan vs. Aggies, but very much doubt it. Wildcats will go 4-7 this OOC...so thanks for this win at least. :thumb:

Harding's jam was one of the sweetest things I've ever seen at the Dee! Fun win!
I hope we see more of him. He reminds me of Gelaun Wheelwright with a little more discipline.

I am more than happy that my prediction of this game was dead wrong.
Weber showed a ton of heart and beat a very talented UVU team.
Maybe things are starting to come together for this team just like it does every year around Christmas... :thumb:

I was very pleased to see the effort. If Braxton and Hill are able to make teams pay inside early, it appears to help with our outside shooting. It was great to see the foul shots go down. I love Hardings energy. I am also very glad that I was wrong. Senglin looked like the leader we need him to be.

Great team win by the Wildcats on Saturday. Really loved the play by our bigs and like 02 said, if they are making plays, it opens up our outside game. Senglin played within the system and played with a lot of confidence. When he does that, Weber is very hard to beat. He is our leader, our MVP. We need him to be playing at a high-level each and every game for the team to succeed. A lot is said about his offense, but I think he played lights out defense on Saturday.

I've definitely come to the conclusion that Baker should be starting at the 3, but, I am alright with him coming in off the bench. He brings much needed energy when he comes into the game, especially if he comes in with Harding. Ryan has to start or he isn't very good. If he starts it just gets his engine running and he plays far better. His defense on Saturday was awesome.

Finally...Hill!! 8-8 from the free throw line. That is one of my favorite stats from Saturday night. We still have some skittish free throw shooters, but it is nice seeing a senior step up and hit freebies.

You know it's a big time win when you beat a WAC team at home with a 148 RPI & a losing record Weber is now 2-6. :dunce:
