Vandals Making Quite a Statement

Idaho is burying Colorado State on the blue turf in the spud bowl. The Vandals are going to wind up 9-4, quite a nice finish for their penultimate FBS season.

Good question Claws. Just from reading the Vandal message board, there is incredible enmity toward Staben and the Idaho administration over this decision. Staben did a lengthy interview with the Statesman last week reiterating his decision to move down. The problem, of course, is that Idaho would have to go it alone as an independent. We'll see how much political heat the pro FBS crowd can bring, and how much money is withheld in terms of donations and ticket sales. No question tonight's performance is going to turn up the heat on Staben.

If they can sustain the number of wins. We were pretty hopeful a couple years ago.
It would be a tough road as an independent. Scheduling is difficult and they would lose almost $2 million in Sun Belt revenues when they leave the conference after next year. The upside is their "money games" would be worth about double what FCS schools get paid and they probably would have higher attendance and donation numbers. And let's face it, FCS football is not nearly as attractive to a fan base that's had 20 plus years of FBS competition. It will be interesting to see where things go from here. I know one thing, Staben is probably going to go down as one of the least popular presidents in U of I history.

....they've have some others that would probably garner "dis-honorable mention"....but I would bet Staben will go down as "the least popular".....for sure among any "sports minded" Vandals..... :thumb:
