Vernon Adams leaves EWU

QB Phenom Vernon Adams has left EWU and has taken his talents to Eugene to play for the Oregon Ducks. Also considered UCLA, and Texas.

Can't blame him. But I wouldn't have left unless I knew for sure I was going to start. Adams would have gotten into the "league" through Eastern, unless he had an absolutely abysmal year, which in all likelihood wouldn't have happend in Cheney. However, going to a major FBS hoping to play as a Senior transfer (Glenn Dean???)? I think his chances just went down. Too bad. He could have had a career in the NFL.

Will be competing with 5 others for the starting job. I agree, when you're not even guaranteed to start, it's a big gamble.

Guys who have been in the program, understand the system and have relationships with the other players. He can't go to Spring Ball either. He is still at Eastern...so that leaves him only able to compete for the position during Fall Camp. I really think it was a poor decision by Adams. Wonder how much he is making for his move? To bad it might be his only pay check for playing football.

I don't blame VA for making this move, look at the numbers he put up at EWU and it clear he can flat out ball. IF VA is as good as he thinks he is then this move could take him from a 4-7 round pick to possibly a first round pick. I hope he does huge things at Oregon (even though im not a duck fan).
If I had to pick between playing at EWU, and Oregon I know which one I would pick. :twocents:

Good for him. What an opportunity. This isn't a special rule. It has been in place for years. Big Sky schools use it frequently. I have my doubts about Vernon actually getting on the field for the Ducks, but I can't blame him for trying. A lot of people have left everything in a pursuit to strike it rich. I hope Adams hits a gold mind.

Vernon Adams barred from EWU prep

I'm sure that coach is talking about the teams training rooms and facilities. He will still be able to workout on campus, along with the rest of the studentbody. Although, he may not get hold of his new playbook before arriving at his new campus, he will surely be getting instruction from his new coaching staff and be able to spend some long weekends traveling to Oregon to acclimate himself with his new community. This arrangement is not as bad as it appears on the surface.

I am sure that Eastern has some talented QBs in the wings, waiting for their chance to shine. Eastern was a good team with him, and they will be a good team without him. One player does not make or break a football team. :twocents:
