Vernon Adams

Not a great game against Toledo, pathetic 4th quarter. Why does Vernon always have a very few favorite receivers and never throws to the open ones?

It seems every member of the team places a higher priority on winning than who is their favorite team mate.
To me wineguy you hurt your credibility with this type of stmt.

The issue wasn't so much a bad game by VA, it was more of lot of talent and organization on the part of Toledo. The only real knock against his performance to me was that he seemed tentative to run the ball, even when it was the best option.

There were several dropped balls in the game and VA did have some passes get away, but that's going to happen. I thought Vernon should have tucked it and ran a lot more instead of throwing it a couple times as it seemed as if there was a ton of room to run.

If SHSU trys to play like Toledo did, expect VA to have a big day on the ground. If they try to blitz, which I think they will, VA will have a big day in the air. Live and learn from his mistakes, but at the end of the day, VA still had 300 + yards and 3 td's against Toledo....

A couple of facts about Vernon Adams:

1. He's a sophomore. It's expected that he'll make some mistakes
2. He's smart. He will learn from those mistakes.

I like who we've got running this offense. I feel better about him than just about anyone else we've had at the QB position. He has a multi-dimensional game and can create plays from nothing.

I didn't get to watch the Toledo game and do not remember what Sam did to us the first half of last year so do not know if there is any comparison.
Do you feel he learned anything from the Toledo game that would apply in the game Saturday?

Agree on pulling it down and running when he gets the opportunity, sophomore, and still not a bad game statistically.

But there were a few times where his throwing motion looked off and he threw a couple into the dirt.

Agreed. And remember, he didn't have to "take his lumps" last year, because we would just put that other guy in. Hopefully he got all the "lumps" out against Toledo.

Really, Wineguy?! Geez... You don't think we know you're referring to your son not getting enough catches? Don't pin that on Adams...
