Very disappointed

I started following the Eagles in the early 1980's, moved to Spokane in 1982 and went to a few games. In about the mid 1980's I attended quite a few games and started buying season tickets about 1987. Over 30 years of being an Eagle fan, and I still am, but a VERY, VERY disappointed Eagle fan after the performance today. This was the first time I recall leaving a game early regardless of score or weather or ?? I was a die hard.

I'm disappointed too. We've gone from being a national semifinalist to barely competitive in the span of 9 months. But a whole hell of a lot has happened in that 9 months. Even the best programs experience turbulence from time to time. Recall that Baldwin had a rough go his first season as HC as well. Rebuilding a program from the ground up takes time. The important thing is to keep supporting these guys because despite the poor performances they are working their tails off.

There is talent on this team. Our coaches are good. We've had a run of bad performances against the two best teams on our schedule. I'd at least wait until next Saturday to pass judgment. 0-2 is devastating, but we can still bounce back. Fordham is a big step down from where we've been playing. It's a tough ask coming off these last two awful outings, so we'll see how we play as a desperate team in a must-win situation. I think we'll be alright.

It's been a tough two weeks but we've also played the two best teams on our schedule. We need to get to 2-2, almost have to if we want to make the playoffs....

As far as the game today, our defense wasn't that bad but our offense sucked. Drops, bad passes, no run game. Credit ndsu on D but we didn't execute. Once Grady went out we had no one with any height at receiver and that is a major concern moving forward. Grady was our go to big guy and he was tearing up NDSU before the injury, we were/are a different receiving corp without him. Gage hasn't looked good in either game but I expect him to bounce back next week.

We need a win, some confidence, and some swagger, then we need to kick the griz asses...

I don't think we are rebuilding from the ground up; we have veteran players who've played together for 3 years. Yes, we lost a lot of talented WR's, but the talent is there. It shows every now and then, but for the most part, the capability of this team hasn't been seen, yet.

But, I do agree with you; this team needs Eagle Nation to back away from the ledge and support them. I was very disappointed in how many people left early.

Our defense was statistically bad too.

We gave up 375 yards on the ground, 532 total, 50% 3rd down conversion rate several of which were 3rd and long to a run happy team, and they held the ball for 42:40. It's tough to gain more than 204 yards when you possess the ball for just 17 minutes.

This is the problem when you commit to a more balanced running attack but can't move the chains. You go from at least being able to stay in games through the air to blowouts against power rushing attacks.

We have struggled on both sides of the ball so far, neither helping the other. No unit deserves a pass.

2006 was pretty rough, remember that? We lost to Central.

Yep. Finished 3-8 but at least smoked ISU in the rain the last game of the season when Matt Nichols first showed signs of figuring out the offense.

There's no team left on our schedule that truly scares me. Have I lost a little faith in our ability to beat them all? Of course. And judging by yesterday's outcomes we might be finishing the season with the 5 best teams in the conference (MSU looked really good last night).

But at the very least, if we continue to suck it will make games like Sac State more entertaining.

We've literally lost nothing yet. The season starts today. Finish 9-0 and we win the conference and could even get a decent seed. Optimism...you're welcome!
