Very nice opening win

Nobody will confuse Montana Tech with Weber State, but Idaho State had a very nice 103-65 win in their exhibition opener. The Bengals made 16 treys, had four guys in double figures, and got a dynamic debut from Ethan Telfair, who scored 25 points, had 8 assists and six rebounds -- with zero turnovers. He's going to be a lot of fun to watch. Gary Chivician came off the bench to hit five of six from three, and Clint Nwoshu was 4 of 6 from deep.

This is definitely not your father's Bengal offense: ISU put up 71 field goal attempts -- last year they averaged 52 shots a game. They put up 32 treys. The Bengaks were playing without four guys who would likely play significant minutes (Nicolds-- concussion; Boyd -- mono; Hall -broken elbow and Wilson -- back). As a result they wore down some in the second half. If they get a few of these kids back, it will certainly help the depth.
I'm not ready to declare the Bengals a contender, but the mood around this team is certainly a lot better tonight than at this point last year.
