Victory Tree

For those of you who care, the Victory Tree is gone. I've asked if the tree will be replaced in the future, but have yet to have received an honest/straightforward reply (this is Joe we are talking about, so it makes sense). Whether the tree is replaced or not, future tailgates will/must still occur in the same area, and the traditions of the Victory Tree must continue.

Regardless of future initiative, this is a sad moment. It is through traditions, activities, groups/organizations, fraternities and sororities that students create a bond with their university. If the university wants to really expand their ENDOWMENT then it MUST create an atmosphere where the current student body can develop a loyalty to Weber. The past isn't much different from the future in the ways how the university must do this. What is the point of having 3500+ graduates annually if none of them care about their school? Wouldn't it be best if the university could bost that out of that 3500+ that 2000 will become donors in the future? That they will join specific clubs and organizations? A Young Alumn may only be able to donate $25 at first but in the future that Young Alumn may be able to donate a HELL of a lot more. So, with that all I will say is...WEBER PULL YOUR HEADS OUT!!

Finally, we can all take solace in the fact that many great moments were shared by the tree, either in post game celebrations or pre-game tailgates. I think I will drink a DEW at the sport sometime this weekend to commemorate what was a great tradition. I'm sure skills, purplefogdog, Catcat, Flylikeasparrow, cheesus, and a lot of the other peeps with me will continue the tradition, but our tree will be solely missed.

Screw joe, you can never trust guys with slicked back hair and a pot belly.

Why don't you guys buy your own replacement tree. $50-$100 will get you a nice tree. Have aj plant it since he can put the most weight into the shovel while digging. Just go plant it, nobody will care.

    ..... :finger:

I just wish one of us could have gotten the original victory tree and planted it in our yards. that would have been tight!

I will slowly pour out a dew in remembrance of the Tree!!

I really wonder what the approximate amount of Dew that was drunk there is? Gotta be in the hundreds of gallons. Maybe someone can get Pepsi to donate a new tree. If not, I say we change it to Mellow Yellow and have Coke donate a tree. That was very Bengalhater of me to say.

It is about time that someone put that tree out of its misery!!!! When I went to WSU people tried to kill that tree and get rid of it. I don't know how many times that thing was hit by cars, tore out by the snow plow, and etc. If that tree is a "tradition", it has been one for maybe the past 3 years. Not much of a tradition since the Dee has been around since the late 1970's. :ugeek:

Even if it was only 3...4 or whatever years...it was STILL a tradition...new or otherwise. And in my humble opinion...a damn good tradition. There were a LOT of bonding moments for Wildcat students and fans alike.
I'm just spit ballin' here but if a real tree cannot be planted there or anywhere, can we appraoch Pepsi and explain that a LOT of fans have been contributing to their bottom line by this tradition. Perhaps a statue/ monument(cool fake tree) or some rendition of such could be supplied by Pepsi at or near the location of THE Victory Tree? Even if we had to haul the tree to the Victory Tree spot every game would be worth saving this proud and growing tradition.

The Brotherhood of Sigm Chi at Weber State, before we fell apart, started the tradition in 2001. The Victory Dew portion, of the tradition, can be attributed to Bengalhater (drinking a dew after a win) 2003, and the speeches commemorating our spoils and victories were started by me in 2002. I was a college student at Weber at the time and to me it is an important tradition. Granted, not long running traditions, but traditions none the less. Honestly, are there any traditions from the 70s left? What were some? We should recreate them.

3 years????? You're an idiot when it comes to knowledge about the victory tree. I graduated in 06 and it was a tradition every year i went to school there.

As far as continuing the tradition maybe finding an old artificial Christmas tree and spray painting it purple and just bringing it to the parking lot for every game. You could bring it to the football games too. I love the idea of getting Pepsi to donate something too!

I got arrested trying to cut that tree down in frustration after I failed to kill
The football program in 1994. A small army of accountants on Harrison flanked me
And still haunt my dreams.
