If it really comes down to that game, I'm heading up there.

Shouldn't you be engineering a student trip instead of a fetching viewing party

Jon_Con,

Contact the alumni office if you're considering going up to the Montana game. I emailed the director yesterday and she said they are in discussions to put something together for the Montana game. I'm sure the more interest they see is there the more effort they will put into pulling something together. Her email is: [email protected]

a student bus trip for a basketball game on a tuesday night in missoula is very unrealistic. its not just the cost. students would miss 3 days of school. if there is going to be a bus trip it would be to the big sky tournament/ncaa tournament which is usually during spring break. if the game was on a saturday then it could happen. also, a bus trip to get planned with no bev as she is on to a new job is also very unrealistic.

also, the students didn't even go to pocatello which they had a bus for the past 4-5 years (thanks bev!). that was lame that died. dub club bus doesn't count.

bev was a one of a kind. she was not the typical wsu employee, she didn't care that weber's focus is to be a commuter school. in 2008-09 alone she had bus trips to nau, isu and montana for football. only reason she didnt have one for cal poly was because of the holiday not enough students signed up. then for basketball she did idaho state and san diego state.

so 5 trips that year. she averaged i think about 2-3 trips a yr. how many do they average this yr?

I've said it once and I'll say it again...Weber bastardizes open positions by hiring internally. Yes, Bev's replacement is an internal hire. Bev was an outside hire who should have gotten the WCC job, but a university personality wanted someone else. Oh well, that is beside the point. The point is that Bev was from the outside, and made positive changes that really excited the student base. She didn't change the overall perception of Weber, but made a serious dent in it. Each year more and more students were getting excited about being Wildcats. There was planned events on campus, bus trips, viewing parties ON CAMPUS, an actual club that students could develop skills in, and actual game marketing. It is like Larry Farmer taking over for McCarthy. In one season the whole thing that took a few years to build up is gone. BACK TO THE DARK AGES for Weber.

No WSUSA excitment, No Student Clubs and Orgs that really matter, The Greek System is ridiculous, The PPAK is gone replaced by what? I hate to break it to people...to create something for the future you have to work extremely hard now. Out of 10 students, USU gets 4 to be life long donors. At Weber it is .25 out of 10. YIKES!! That means that 1 out of every 40 Weber grads might become a life long donor. Gotta make some changes if you want more $$$ coming in every year. If Alumni doesn't want it, student PPAK club, why won't WCC pick it up?

Weber's major alumni supporters are dying. The school isn't creating solid replacements. Lifetime Alumni supporters happen because they became connected to the school. Great to know that Weber has 25K students. 75% hate Weber and the other 23% are nihilist who don't really care. SWEET 2% that could be life time alumni. Great way to increase the endowment and possible donations. Mark my words, alumni support is going to start decreasing in the future.

it will be at the alumni center that night. we need to hype it up

this is bull sh!t. If NoCo can bus students 2 yrs ago to a Weber during the season we should be able to get one up to Missoula for the game of the year.

GET OFF YOUR AS$, PICK UP THE PHONE, I CAN THINK OF 10 SPONSORS YOU COULD CALL TO HELP FINANCIALLY.

A nice mini student section, like we had at USU last year would go a long way in Montana's smallish gym.

Montana's "smallish" gym? I dont think an arena that holds over 7,000 can be considered a small hoops venue

For a football venue, 7K+ is small, but for a basketball venue.....i dont think so

this is exactly why stuff never happens anymore. people B@#! about how we never do anything and when we do something people B#@#% that we arent doing what they want done. you want to spend 10 hours in a bus and goto montana more power to you. sponsors arent even that big a deal its the fact that we cant get the interest from students and the alumni association doesnt want to get a bus if we cant guarantee it will be full. you want to get this going Jon_Con more power to you. but quite bashing on me cause im trying to get student interest up and give people a place where they can come and watch the game

If the supposed student section/ppak leader is bitc#ing about a 10 hr bus ride, No wonder there is no student interest. It's called an F####ng road trip. So you are saying you would rather go to class than a road trip & huge ball game. You probably don't even have class on Tues & Thurs anyways.

It's called initiative, leadership, or getting off your lazy As$. Let somebody else plan the viewing party for all the people who don't want to go on a bus ride.

You're suppose to be a little crazy in college, not freaking couch potatoes who can't leave their mommy's basement & playstation behind.

not gonna waste my time arguing about this anymore. the decision has been made if you want to change it you be on the board next year.

for those that want to come hang out with friends and watch the game i will have more details as the game draws closer

this Attitude right here, is the stench that permeates all the way through the University's athletic department. It's also known as complacency & mediocrity.

you come do my job for a month and see how it goes. if you can do a better job you have every right to criticize me about how things have gone. until then back off

Wow, this thread took a negative turn!

I like the passion though and seeing people care about Weber. I wish there were more of it in Ogden. People in Ogden take the school for granted and don't realize what a great school it is. I have lived all over the country and went to graduate school and post-grad school at Big 10 and Big 12 schools and I felt like I got a great education at Weber. I was very well prepared for these grad schools compared to my fellow classmates and Weber has a good reputation amongst the admissions dept's of these schools. Weber has a great and storied tradition in basketball that rivals top schools in the nation. My wish is that the community would realize this and give the school and team the support they deserve.

Instead of battling each other, those with passion for the school and teams need more unity and organization to increase the support.

Looking forward to the game @ NAU tomorrow! And....

Let's go get Montana!!!!!

Geezus, dude. If you wanna go to Missoula, it's really pretty easy leaving from SLC. You can find a number of flights here:

I'll even help you with some hotel and restaurant suggestions if you promise to stop being such an ass.
