PORTLAND, Ore – The Portland State women's basketball team captured its first-ever Big Sky Conference regular season title on Saturday, defeating Montana State, 65-63.

The Vikings needed to win and have Northern Colorado lose at Idaho State, both of which happened.

As a result of winning the title, PSU will host next weeks conference tournament, March 10-12, at the Stott Center.

An extended release will be issued shortly.

I'm sorry, but those officials are ridiculous for calling out the band and saying that they don't want to hear any more out of them (comments, not music). They weren't saying anything worse than they do at the men's games.

Not to go all Dan Hawkins on everyone (Dan Hawkins reference: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-4T26x6GZEw" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;), but come on! The band is riding you too hard so you threaten to kick them out? It's Division I basketball! Go officiate intarmurals!

Man, I really thought that three by MSU was going in at the end.

They threatened to kick the band out?? I missed that!

Yet they didn't give MSU's coach a technical for that ridiculous screaming at the refs...

More lameless by the officials today.

How that MSU coach didn't get a T was beyond me.
