I'm not 100% sure about this information, but I have heard that four players will be coming for visits. If any of them sign, or they all sign, no one else will be coming to campus.

Omar Sherman
Jeremiah Jefferson
Julion Pearre
Corey Henderson

Weber is looking for another big and desperately needs to sign a SG or Wing type player.

Happy Monday to you all!!

If Sherman and one of those guards commit to us, then our recruiting will be done, as long as all of our commits sign. If that doesn't happen, then there will be more visits lined up. Personally, I think it's more likely to happen than not. However, you can never be sure. :coffee:

From what I have heard, the coaches are really high, well, d'uh, on Sherman and also on Jefferson. Weber is in a really awesome situation. If we can't get one of those guys, we still have a really strong list of other potential candidates to join our team. Julion Pearre, Michael Humphreys, Corey Henderson, to name a few, and the list goes on. Randy and his assistants are doing an absolutely amazing job right now.

I'd love to see Sherman and Jefferson as Wildcats...HELL of a class!! Possibly the best ever? Braxton, Richardson, Van Pelt, Sherman, and Jefferson?? Uh...YIKES!! Big Sky best watch out, heavens, the state of Utah better watch out. This class could rival BYU's 2013 class.

I agree with your assessment, Tal. We are really sitting in a great position right now. We are able to get in with a higher caliber of players because they are seeing what we have always known. At Weber State you can get seen by every NBA scout in the nation and you can be seen early and often in your career. If you go to a high major program, you will probably ride the pine for at least 2 to 3 years and might get seen in one season. If you come to Weber State, you are coming to a place that puts a high emphasis on player development. In a lot of high major programs players are expected to come in fully developed and less emphasis is placed on developing them further.

I've said it before, we just have a lot to offer and that is being seen by players all across the country. :thumb: :thumb:

The nicest thing about Lillard is the fact that he was, technically, a four year player and came out of college that much more prepared to play in the "League" than the vast majority of players who enter the league. The majority of players, coming from High Major teams, are not prepared, and it is taking them two, sometimes three years to make an impact for their respective teams. The Jazz are seeing this with their youngish roster. Finally, this year, a few of their players, who's rookies seasons should have been this year, might finally start playing to a higher level, and be greater contributors. Whereas, Lillard came out of college far better prepared and ready to play at that high level, and has already been a major contributor for his team. Another player that comes to mind is one of Lillard's teammates in Portland: Wesley Matthews. Who has etched himself a nice NBA career. He was a four year player, and due to his experience knew how to do what was necessary to earn a roster spot as a free agent. Yet, the prime example of utilizing four years of college is best exemplified by Lillard. Need I say more, his achievements stand for themselves: Rookie of the Year!!! I think the NBA needs to create a two year standard, at least. Far to many players are entering the league, who shouldn't be. Still, Lillard is a marked man. The "experts" are going to be claiming that other players in his class will eventually be far better than him. Yeah, they might, but they are going to have to catch up, and frankly, I don't think they ever will. I doubt they will ever match Damian's work effort and drive. Experts can kiss it!!

As for Visits!! Next week and the following two...look for recruits on campus. So far three years in a row Weber has had a better class than USU, Utah, and Montana. PAC-12!! LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL

So when do all the visits start? Realize we have two promising recruits committed for 2014, but I see we still have two open spots. It's time to show them what Weber has to offer!

Visits usually, but not always, take place over a weekend. Depending on the circumstance, there will be one or two visitors per instance. Coaches can not talk about who they are recruiting or inviting in for visits until after a player has signed a letter of intent. That means you won't hear about recruits or visits from coaches. Students and staff will, sometimes, see coaches showing recruits around campus. Others may see them out in the community at restaurants or other activities. They will often attend an athletic event, if there is something going on. There is a good chance that there will be somebody at this Saturday's game. You would almost have to bump into them and ask their name to find out who it might be. Sometimes, word gets out through social media that someone might be coming.

Nice information Olds! Coaches definitely want recruits to visit when there is excitement and action on campus. This weekend will be a great weekend for athletes to visit the school. As for when a recruit can visit. Recruits cannot visit until they are actually in their senior year of high school. So, a recruit cannot visit until after their school has started. By now, hopefully, most schools have started, but you do see a tendency to see visits in the middle of September. Usually, at least with Rahe, out top recruits visit first. I'll be keeping my eyes and ears open to see who is around this weekend.

Also, WELCOME to the forum Mid Major!!

I dropped in to the Dee Center this afternoon to see what might be going on. I got lucky and got a chance to watch our two weekend visitors playing some pick up ball. I can tell you that if we are able to sign these two guys, we would be set for quite a while. They could start for us right now. I'm really excited to think that we could get one or both of these guys.

Beyond seeing the recruits, I also got a chance to see our new walk ons and the rest of the team. A couple of these walk ons have a real chance of earning a scholarship. The Leeks kid can really play and is a better than average athlete. Christain McDonald is quite slender, needs to hit the gym, but has high level skills. Both of those kids had scholarship offers, Christian from MSU and UNCO of the BSC. Leeks is 6'5'' but plays much bigger. All of our regulars look improved. Bolomboy and Tresnak are going to be absolute monsters for other teams to deal with. This season is shaping up to be epic. Byron was there shooting around but was not playing. James was also sitting out. :thumb: :thumb:

James has been working this summer at the Ogden Raptors games, hasn't been there for a few games recently and appeared tonight at the game with his left leg in a wrap up to the knee, walking very carefully. Wondering what's up?

James dislocated his kneecap and will be having surgery. He should return sometime in December.

I am thinking that a little more insight into our weekend visitors is warranted. Jeremiah is extremely athletic and can shoot the lights out. He has the ball handling skills to play point guard. However, he may be a more natural wing at this point. That could change over time. He is the real deal and would be just as big of an impact to our program as Damian. I think that he would be a four year starter for us.

Omar is just what he has been billed as. He is a left hander, but can go right. He has great post moves, but can also hit the outside shot, including 3s. He has better than average ball handling skills for a big man. Athletically, He is not on the same level as Bolomboy. If he was, he would be in school one year and then off to the NBA. He would be an impact player for us and probably a 4 year starter. If he has the desire to work on his body to become stronger and quicker, he could really be a dominant force.

I don't know how realistic this is, but I would like to see us sign both of these guys. They would be good for us and I think that we would be good for them. We can help them prepare for that next level.

Now that their visits are over, I can talk about the two players. I whole-heartedly agree with Olds on both of them. I feel the Cats have an excellent chance to sign both of these players. Now, if that happens that is yet to be seen. My fingers are crossed!! I'd love to see them come to Weber and join Braxton and Richardson as part of the 2014 class. Omar and Jeremiah have some extensive skills and abilities. Both could highly benefit from Rahe and his staff. Rahe and Co. would develop these guys talent and help them to progress toward that next goal. Look at Berry...he has an excellent chance to be drafted at the end of the season. Bolomboy who has the talent to go to the next level, and these guys are getting that chance because of what we have here at Weber State University. If I were the AD I'd be doing everything I could to ensure 9K at every home game this season and to build that piggy bank necessary to keep this staff intact.

Omar and Jefferson, are the right type of players for our system and guys who will make the Cats far better. A big who is dominate from the left but can play the right and extend the defense by hitting outside shots = TOTAL DOMINANCE of the BIG SKY. Yeah, he would be a HUGE pickup for the Cats. And then to have another wing/combo guard with the Skills that Jefferson possess...YIKES!! The Cats already have Senglin and Gittens for the next four years, a guard who has been compared to JC Carroll on a mission, not to mention the guys who are already here and have time remaining in Williams and Wheels. YIKES!! Yes, the Sky should be crappin in their pants.

I agree 100%, Tal!!

Omar and Jeremiah, come to Weber state. Ogden is already lovin' you guys. Let's get the party going. Let's get it started.

The possibilities are endless. I'm very excited.

Here is a partial answer for you. I think the visits went well. :thumb: :thumb:

Now lets all hope that, "Loved it" ='s a COMMITMENT!!

Any news on Sherman? Things have been really quite since he announced he was making three visits. He has a visit to Wichita State scheduled for next weekend, and I think one for this upcoming weekend to Georgia Tech or Miami. Not really sure.

Good to see Damian in town over the weekend showing these recruits what can happen here at Weber State.
