Volleyball vs. Seattle U.

PSU played with what looks like its primary lineup for the rest of the season tonight against Seattle U.: Phillips, Zielke, Ellis, Villalpando, Olden, and Schlatter, with Kristinikova subbed in for the 6-2 formation. It certainly worked tonight as we hit .426, a whopping .600 in the first set, to sweep Seattle 3-0. Seattle isn't a strong team; this match rebuilt our confidence after the disappointing loss to Sacramento. It's how we're going to have to play the rest of the season in conference. Ellis and Phillips led in kills, with 14 and 13 each; Schlatter and Kristinikova fed them the assists, while Villalpando led in digs. Zielke put away kills at an amazing .700 rate and Olden led in blocks with 6. It was one of our better matches. if we can maintain at this level we won't just make the NCAAs, we'll go two deep in the tournament! We look like a solid team now.

Fairly easy game for us. I think that was definitely a good game to have before heading into the rest of the season.

We should take Eastern Washington almost as easily tomorrow. The first real challenge will come next week against UNC; we have to take that home game and get at least a split with them. Schlatter has come back fast, but Bateham hasn't. Cotton's nowhere ready yet; Villalpando will have to carry all the load. A worry.
