vs Montana State

The BSC leading Hornets (13-6, 7-1 BSC) look to defend the Nest against a struggling Montana State (4-15, 1-6 BSC) team that finally got a BSC win last week. The Bobcats have a few players averaging 10 ppg or more. Senior guard Dison (13.7 ppg, 3.4 rpg) leads the way and is flanked by junior guard Colbert (11.1 ppg, 5.6 apg) and sophomore guard Holm (10.1 ppg). MSU will be looking to pull a road upset and as we have seen, anything is possible in the BSC.

This is a must win for the Hornets. There is no reason the Hornets shouldn’t get a win if they show up and take care of business. The Hornets are scorching hot and need to focus on MSU and not look ahead to Saturday’s looming showdown.

Nice interview on This Week in the Big Sky with Coach Katz. http://www.bigskyconf.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Going to be an exciting time in Sac State basketball on campus for the next few games starting tomorrow.

And will be fun to see how PSU deals with Montana in Portland tomorrow. Watched PSU against USC on Pac 12 Network at the beginning of the season and the Vikings looked very good. And PSU, like Sac State won for only the 2nd time last week in their school history at Weber State as well. And actually kind of rare for any Big Sky team to come out of Ogdan with a win. Something like a 68-5 record in the Big Sky for WSU at home in the past decade or so if memory serves me correct..

Going to be fun and going to be a grind.

Like Coach Katz and his approach that Sac State prepares as the underdogs for each game. And of course he also has confidence in the team to take on all contenders and come out on top.

Go Hornets!!

Sac State Pride.

I heard both games are already sold out AND that is with temporary seating added along the baselines. I hope someone keeps some game updates because I'm going to be out of pocket all weekend.

good news SD.

Nothing on hornet sports.com about available tickets so that is good. It is time for this team to have all seats filled with screaming Hornet fans and temporary seats brought in as the gym can hold plenty more than quoted capacity . It is time. And trust the students have stepped up and understand how special this season is and how special their team is at this time in Hornet basketball history. You know President Guy West is looking down and being a proud Hornet right now.

Hope our forum is on fire tomorrow night.

And that being said most of the regulars will hopefully be at the game and I'm excited for them and all Hornet fans.

Game Day...Montana St. has two starting guards (Colbert and Dison) who can hurt you from outside...they also have Robison who can also shoot from the perimeter...off the bench Holm can get hot....we should be able to take advantage on the inside...we should control the boards (they don't shoot a good percentage) and be able to attack the basket (they don't have a real stopper on the inside)...basically we just have to play Hornet basketball and everything should work itself out...no distractions, complete concentration on Montana St. (don't overlook anyone) GO HORNETS!!!!!

According to Facebook, the ticket office has just released 80 additional tickets for online purchase or walk up. Looking like a sellout for sure! Can't wait to see the scene!

Alright, first step over, now we can concentrate on Montana. Griz played a real good second half last night in Portland for the win. We will have to slow down Bruenig, make Gregory work for everything, and stop any of the role players from getting hot from outside. This is a big game for our BSC standings. The crowd last night was incredible. Finally getting the support they deserve. The Hornets will give it their all, it's our duty to do our all also. GO HORNETS!!!!!! BTW better get your tix early as a sell-out is probable

Yeesssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hornets win
Hornets win
Hornets win

The Miracle at 6,000 J Street just happened!!!!!!!

The Miracle at Hornet Gym!!!

Biggest win in Div I history just happened!!!!

Know everyone on this board is enjoying this moment at hornet Gym on the court.

Yeeeeessssssssssssssssssssssssssss!!!

This team so deserves it.
This school so deserves this moment.
This school has so fought so hard to be relevant
This basketball program has done it right and so deserves it.

9-1 in big Sky (Not bragging, just so proud and so happy)

15-6 overall 15 wins is our top mark in Div I history and we have at least 8 games to go. Wow.

Wow!!!

Go Hornets!!!

Sac State Pride

A lot of Big Sky games remaining and lots can happen but tonight is special, very special and everyone on this board deserves to enjoy this night in Sac State Div I basketball.

Still enjoying this one.

Just a huge, historic win in terms of Sac State basketball in the Big Sky Other wins over the years have of course been historic and big but this one will be remembered for a while. Down 13 and to come back and win in the final seconds to stay in first place at the over half way point in the conference season is big.
And yet everything this season has evolved into the big category. The record books in Div I are being rewritten so far this year. It is great. Keeping it humble. Keeping it real. Just so enjoying what this team is doing and respecting all the teams that have come so close before. So glad that the alumni basketball games were held earlier today at Hornet Gym. So many Hornets past and present are indeed proud to be a Hornet.

trolling Montana's forum is really fun this morning. They have their panties in a bunch over the officiating, our possible hosting the BSC tourney, almost anything they can grab at. Really funny. First time in Sac's history that we didn't get jobbed in a game against Montana or Weber and they go crazy. Well they finally know how it feels to have another team shoot more free throws than they do. Last night they had to play defense with their hands because we were quicker with our feet than they are, thus more fouls called against them than us. Fabulous game..we didn't play our best by far but still got the win. Our guys refuse to lose. Huge steal by Hornsby with 31 secs left, great pass out of the double team by Mikh and Tiffen finds Garrity wide open in the corner for the dagger. Crowd won this game with the noise bothering Montana's free throw shooters into a 53% performance. 1400 in a building with a capacity of 1012....whew, sure glad the fire department didn't show up. No time to rest on our laurels, time to get ready for Portland who can be dangerous on a given day. Portland has played VERY good and has played pretty bad at different times this year. Hornets have to make it one of Portland's bad days. Can't take a day off now, got to outwork the competition and put them away. GO HORNETS!!!!!

wonder if people were turned away last night from getting in and how many. Hate to see people left out in the cold. How bout setting up a Big Screen TV in North Gym for any denied entrance to enjoy the game on Big Sky TV together for the final three home games which are likely to be just as overflowing.

That being said I thought it was just me in terms of the problems with Big Sky TV at Hornet Gym. The Griz fans were complaining how the feed continues to freeze up every ten seconds or so. I have not been able to enjoy a game on Big Sky TV at hornet Gym this year with the constant freezing up of the feed. This did not happen as much in the past. Notice the same thing happens with Big Sky TV feed at Portland State. All the other feeds at Big Sky schools seem to be good with just a remote freeze up here and there.

I love the outrage this streak is causing in the BSC. The shock and awe of a school in the worst D1 facilities make a nice run through a conference that has typically been dominated by two programs is very entertaining. eGriz is always good for a laugh.

PSU is sold out and standing room only tickets will be available at 1 pm (tip off is at 2). Only 3 home games left to see this amazing team at home. Slim pickings for the UNC game and probably not much different for UND. If you are contemplating catching a game I suggest you get your tickets now.

Solid 75-59 win over MSU. Just watched the replay and only the 2nd half is available. The Hornets are going to see everyone's top game from here on out so it doesn't surprise me that MSU played their hearts out. The Hornets were able to pull away in the last 10 minutes with some great execution.

This streak and Weber's very average team has almost shut down all activity on Weber's board. Really quite refreshing not reading their arrogant posts. (not all their posters but a majority)

No kidding. All those years of winning and you think they could tough out a rough season.

Just watched the 70-69 Hornet win over Montana. It was nice seeing Montana poop away a 13 point lead and then a 8 point lead in the closing minutes. Demps and Hornsby really kept the Hornets in it when UM had the momentum. I’m not buying the complaining by Griz fans about the fouls calls. The Griz benefited from some horrid calls (the Katz technical sequence) and Hornets forced the action and drove to the tin a hell of a lot more than the Griz did. Even then UM had their chance to put it away at the stripe and they couldn’t get it done. The Griz were content to pass the ball on the perimeter and take perimeter shots…and for the most part it worked.

Damn good game. Not sure how any team doesn’t take account for Garrity in a situation like that. You have to know either him or McKinney is taking that shot. Huge win for this team, I love the storming of the court after the final buzzer sounded.
