vs Portland State

The eags take care of business against most teams at home. This Portland State team is one of the only teams that scares me in Cheney though. They seem to always play us tough at home. It took a last-second 3-pointer to beat them last year and we went into triple overtime a few years back. You have to look past their record. They always have great athletes and they are always a highly competitive team regardless of what their record is. They played Indiana tough, lost to Oregon St by 5, have a win at Loyola Marymount, and they've already beaten Northern Colorado. We better come out with our "A" game today or they will take us down. Eags need to pound the rock.

Wow...not sure how we won that one. Roller coaster ride of a game. Course I lost money...I'm dumb (kinda like the PSU guy holding the ball while time ran out).

That game went almost exactly like I thought it would. Always down to the wire with those guys. They are a tough team to put away.

I have a feeling that Davison's dunk my crack the SportsCenter Top 10 tonight. Maybe even that second reverse dunk he had.

What the hell happened? I had to run and Eastern was up 10 with just a couple minutes left. Turns out they needed to get lucky again down the stretch after trying to piss it away. Where’s the team that looked so good just a month ago?

We missed the front end of two sets of one-and-one free throws and that let them back in the game inside a minute remaining. Other than that I thought we played fine. PSU is the number one ranked team in the country in offensive rebounding and we out-rebounded them. We did a lot of things well that nobody will talk about. You have to make free throws with under a minute remaining though or you will lose a lot of games. I was actually happy to see that we won a game even though we shot horrible from three-point land. It shows we can win without making our 3's and that we have a little bit of grit in us. Winning a little bit ugly is sometimes a good thing, especially early in the season. I think it develops a lot of character for later in the year.

I thought a critical point was with about a minute left we lost the ball near the center line (nonchalant ball handling). The Viking picked up the ball went to their 3 point line and made an uncontested 3 pointer. I think that cut our lead to 4 or so. That gave them some confidence and they turned it on while the Eagles acted like "what happened"?

That was bad timing. However, Ellis Magnuson had 9 assets and only 2 turnovers the entire game, even as PSU was full court pressing the entire game. As a true freshman he leads the BSC with an average 6 assists per game and an assist/turnover ratio of 2.8, also best in the league.
