W: WNIT

Planning on it.

UOP fans (at least those who bother to even consider women's hoops) are a bit wary of Sac's scoring average.

For the Hornets, they should be (and likely are) aware of UOP senior post player Kendall Kenyon, who bears the nickname of "Double-Double Machine" since her per-game averages are in that vicinity. Kenyon holds the school record for double-doubles (usually pts-rebs). In fact, whether Kenyon gets her usual double-double, the Hornets should try their best to clamp down on her rebounding. I have no idea if Kenyon will get to the WNBA, but if she does, it's her rebounding that will get her there; her scoring is secondary to the boards.

There will also be emotion for another Tiger player, Gena Johnson (no relation to Delta coach Gina Johnson), who is finishing her career on something of a downer after missing a year due to a car accident. She is well-loved by the fans, but just wasn't able to recapture the court-presence she had before the accident.

This was probably UOP's year to make noise, but a couple of bad streaks kept them out of the Dance. They're probably losing too much to graduation to get to this point next year, but who knows....

Hornets win over Pacific at UOP in front of 918 in Stockton.

First time in history the Hornets go to the post season and they win!!!

And their reward?

A second round NIT game at Hornet Gym on Monday night against Eastern Washington.

Do things get any better than this?

The men on Saturday night at Hornet Gym in the 2nd round of the CIT
and
The women in the 2nd round of the NIT at Hornet Gym.

Got to sell out these games and maybe, just maybe keep the Hornets at home as they advance in these tournaments. So sweet to see what is happening right now and enjoying every moment.

History at 6,000 J Street in basketball.

Fantastic and time to keep rolling. Keep believing .

Go Hornets!!!

While there were widespread officiating issues with this game, Sac earned the win with some VERY smothering defense. There was the potential for another 100-point game until the officials shut the Hornets down with about 3 minutes left, but it was really a defensive show for the Hornets, with some well-timed 3-bombs thrown in, particularly in the first half. No one Hornet won this game; it was a complete team effort. And given what happened with the men, I find it quite a propos that the Hornets get a rubber match with EWU.

Anyone know yet if there will be a scheduling conflict between the CIT and the WNIT at The Nest?

Men Saturday night/ Women Monday night.

SD is correct. While there seemed to be a discrepancy in the way the fouls went (most UOP fouls seemed to result in Sac trips to the line, while most Sac fouls seemed to be merely inbounds plays for UOP), when it came to performance AT THE LINE, Sac pretty much made the shots they were given while UOP had some struggles. A foul discrepancy is meaningless if you don't make what you're given....

Oh Wow!!!!! Not saying that can't win without her but still losing your second leading scorer and a good 3-point shooter is a big deal....Wonder whats going on there???

SD is right. To just not play and then disappear off the roster is something major... Perhaps something went down in Missoula...

Well the Lady Hornets did pull off the upset of Pacific without her. Not that she isn’t important, but this team uses the whole bench so this just means someone else will need to step up. Also means Harkleroad will have another roster spot open for another recruit.

And welcome to the board allday. :thumb:

The ladies are re-god-damn-destroying the EWU Eagles tonight, lead is nearly 40 and they're making it look easy... Yikes!

Nice win tonight without Gennett. It was good to see her at the game, though, smiling and enjoying the win. At home against Saint Mary's on Thursday. Good for the women's team!

84-49 Lady Hornets win. Wow. Total domination.

The Lady Hornets host St. Mary’s on Thursday night at 7 PM.

Great win over a very good EWU team.

And great to see the Hornets host again at Hornet Gym. See that St. Mary's had 380 fans in Moraga on Monday night against Fresno State and Sac State had 530 fans against EWU. Would love to see a much bigger crowd against St Mary's and maybe yet another home game if the Hornets pull out another win. Sac State would face either UCLA or Northern Colorado. Pulling for the Bears of UNC of course who the Hornets lost two out of three times in one basket type games. Love to get another chance against UNC . Great for the Big Sky to see two teams in the remaining 16 in the WNIT.

Roll on Hornets!!!

Hope there is a sell out against St. Mary's. UNC drew over 1,200 against South Dakota State as the Bears won by 1 point and were shipped off to UCLA.

Would think we need a sell out at Hornet Gym tomorrow if we are thinking about a chance to host another WNIT game when we win tomorrow.

It is spring break but everyone needs to step up and turn out.
Just like turning out during winter break that goes on for a month to six weeks on campus every year during basketball season.

And would be nice to see a few cheerleaders or two out for the game. Shocked to see no spirit leaders at the first post season game in school history on Monday. If the cheer and dance teams are not around , how bout getting a high school cheer team out. And how bout a high school pep band or a dorm rock band out to Hornet Gym since the music department cannot produce a few musicians for the past two or three seasons
Understand that the students that make up the spirit programs at Sac State are too busy outside of what
they signed up to do. And their coaches and leaders are too busy as well.

Go Hornets!!!
