WAC Basketball Unhappy with ESPN

Basketball coaches in the Western Athletic Conference are growing uneasy with the league’s television contract with ESPN, which isn’t likely to change until the 2010-11 season.

That means only three national televised games per year for the next two seasons, making the WAC one of the least televised conferences in the country.

The conference’s RPI power ranking has dropped from No. 10 at the end of last season to No. 20 this week, and coaches say a lack of TV exposure hurts recruiting, stifles fan interest and limits national exposure.
