I would love to see an FCS team jump in, apparently no takers in FBS land… what are the Hornets up to? The $5.3M payday would go a long way!!!!!

Interesting thought, is that something we could even do per FCS rules?

There is a pecking order of 5-7 FBS schools based on APR, but no takers so far and the bowl is running out of time. There is no rule against an FCS school playing in a bowl game, and the favored options right now seem to be JMU or South Dakota State. Some even want to see NDSU because they have a bye before the championship game. For a $5.3M payout, I imagine plenty of FCS schools are taking inventory right now as that’s a huge chunk of the athletic budget, or a press box/west grandstand improvement in our case…

In addition, I would love to see ANY FCS school take this game, what a legendary story it would be!

NDSU and Montana State might be the only two schools with players still around though…

I'd thought of this myself. I hope Kadeezy is right. Sac could do very well against a low P5 like Wake, and that could do good in terms of next year's pre-season polls. It's kinda frustrating to be ignored early, because that makes it harder to move up later in the season....

Rutgers (5-7, 2-7 Big Ten) has been confirmed for the Gator Bowl against Wake Forest (10-3, 7-1 ACC), simply on the basis that no 6-win teams are available and they have the best APR among 5-win teams.

I'd still rather see a decent FCS team go instead. SMH....

It was still nice to play "What if?" for a while.

Now Miami has backed out of the NYE Sun Bowl. Illinois (5-7, 4-5 Big Ten) has already stated they're not interested. Wazzu is desperate for an opponent. Let's get going, Hornets! UOP has played in the Sun Bowl (twice, with a 1-1 record, losing to TX Tech in 1951, and beating Southern Miss in 1952), and now it's Sac's turn, right? Don't let Montana or EWU steal this shot at glory....
