It will be interesting who starts against Washington. Murrell has stated: "We just have so much depth and different combinations we can use that the best five players are not always going to be starting," said Murrell, who is 63-34 at PSU. "The five players that start one game to the next might always change and they might not always be the top five. The people coming off the bench are going to be major contributors and we won't fall off at all."

"We'll have three players coming off the bench immediately that could have started for us. It is really going to put teams that don't have a lot of depth at a disadvantage. I think that is our biggest threat, how deep we can go on the bench."

Does anyone have any idea why Wade has seen so little action in the two scrimmages and exhibition this year?

Tough loss. Even though Washington doesn't have much depth, they play tough defense and really test your ball handlers. I feel that we had this game but failed to protect our lead in the second half by not attacking the hoop enough. Too many times we slowed the ball down, tried to run some half court set plays, and turned the ball over or missed outside shots. I was hoping that we could have capitalized on our superior depth at guard to run the ball, and tire them out a little, but, their defense countered our depth very evenly.
I must take issue with the way our coaches chose to protect our one point lead with 4:34 left in the game and being in the bonus situation. I would think that it would be a good idea to at least try and drive to the hoop, and maybe get to the foul line in that situation. Instead, we settled for low percentage outside shots that missed their mark. We also showed poor clock management during this time. After WA scored their last points to make it 51-50, the PSU coaches failed to call a timeout with 24 seconds left on the clock. This would have been an excellent time to set up a pre-designed play, make sure everyone on the floor knew their assignments, the timeout situation, secondary options etc. This didn't happen, we appeared confused and ended up being fouled on a drive to the hoop that was not called with 7 seconds left. Frustrating, but this team does have a lot of potential, needs a liitle work on their offensive strategies and consistency, and showed they can handle pressure defense fairly well.
