Against Northern New Mexico (NAIA). I thought it was Western New Mexico a Division II (RMAC) who we played last year in exhibition, and were not too bad.

Our exhibition is against Div II Colorado-Colorado Springs who is also in the same conference (RMAC) as Western New Mexico.

I may have to miss our opener against an NAIA, and use the tickets I was given for usu-byu on the same night. I was looking forward to watching two teams we will play in the next few weeks. I'm a little torn now. At least Mayville State is a decent Div II.

ill take ski's side. i dont like watching non DI opponents in football or bball. i understand why they do it in bball. im not against it, just not necessarily wanting to see these types of games.

In my opinion, those who watch the exhibition and non D1 games get a lot better look at what the team will look like than those who watched the purple/white game. At least it is real game experience and not playing against your own team. If a guy can't rebound, defend, or handle the ball against those types of teams, then we know he won't get much PT. These games tell us more about hustle and desire than anything.

So is WeberSki turning out to be a closet USU or BYU fan???

Yeah, playing a DII or NAIA isn't the most exciting thing, but at least, you are getting a chance to watch Weber State. I'm a Weber State fan, so, I will be watching their game. Catcat...you know if you were in Utah, you would be at the DII, DIII, NAIA games.

I couldnt watch USU vs BYU, I dislike both teams, I couldnt root for either team, which means I wouldnt do very much clapping= Boring game, at least with a Weber game either it be DI, DII, DIII or NAIA, Its still Weber State basketball.

Sorry guys beating The eagles of Northern New Mexico (which was a community college a few years ago) by 50 pts doesn't excite me. I've been to a couple practices, purple & white, will be at Colorado-Colorado Springs, and I'm sure Mayville State, but for entertainment value watching two tough teams I couldn't like less if I tried, knowing one is going to lose, and we play them both soon is the ticket. There were quite a few Aggies at the Dee when we played byu, they skipped the first round of the Gossner sleeper to watch us square off with byu....

I wished we opened with a DI, any DI like Rider, Lipscomb, Stetson, Mercer, Gardner-Webb, Coppin St., how about William & Mary....... Arkansas Pine-Bluff anybody?

I sometimes wonder why Weber doesn't play any of the other mid-major teams instead of the crap teams that are brought in each year. I think a lot of it has to do with $$$ and where the Cats want to play. I expect that other mid-major DI teams expect home and homes or guarantee cash, that Weber doesn't have available. I wonder what the payout difference is for a DI to DII or NAIA for that matter.

Some teams often want to play and win their "tune-up" games at home, and as was part of The Longest Yard in 2005, want to schedule an Appalachian State they can kick. (BTW Appalachian showed they could beat Michigan in football a year or so after being mentioned in the film.) Not saying Weber wants this, but the combination of $$ and location limits the number of teams that will come to Ogden, or the Cats go to someone else's place to be the tune-up team.

D-1 programs have to be cautious: University of Arizona started their exhibition season last week and got beat by D-2 Seattle Pacific in Tucson! As Sean Miller said, they are not a very good team at playing together right now.

Regardless of the opponent or level, it is about working the kins out to get rolling. As previous posts have stated many times, we may have our challenges and stumbles, but we are getting ready for conference play.
