Weber is RANKED

Weber is ranked #22 in the Mid Major poll now. Wonder if those who think Rahe should have been fired still feel the same way?

Has me chuckling pretty good, as well as the :stir:

That answer will probably come depending on how we finish.

Big game for Rahe tomorrow night! For Weber, but especially for Rahe. His game plan without Bolomboy will show a lot about his coaching abilities. For me, if we get beat by penetrating guards who either get to the rim, or pass it out to open guys for 3's -- and we never play a zone -- I'll probably have an immediate answer. :wall:

I have noticed, that when Weber wins, certain posters make no comments at all about the win, yet have all the words in the world when Weber loses. It's almost as if some fans on this board would rather the team lose......

Sorry Tomcat, I know :stir: is your job

Time to live up to that ranking by beating both Montana's to the ground

Good to see us getting a little recognition for what has been a pretty dang good season so far. Hopefully we can keep it going. These next two weeks will be a real test.

Speaking of recognition Damien Lillard in his last three games goes for 50 against golden state,30 against the jazz and 34 against the Nets and what is the Utah sports world excited about? Jimmer Fredette and his ten day contract with the celtics.Reminds me of the days of Steve young and how much I got sick of hearing about him and nothing about Alfred Pupanu from the Chargers. And by the way Jimmer made a three point basket yea.

Lillard is having himself a really nice stretch of games right now. I saw yesterday that he is the first player in the NBA this year to record five straight 30 point games after 34 last night including 14-14 FT. Also saw he and C.J. McCollum are the first starting backcourt to each score 30 in back to back games since 1980 (George Gervin and James Silas). Props to Damian. Hopefully he can keep it up!

Please.... If you claim to be a fan of Lillard, at the very least spell his name correctly. I hate Jimmer, but he signed with the Knicks, not Celtics. My biggest peeve is the casual fan of Lillard who says,"I have been a fan of Dame since his Weber State days...." :bad: :bad: :bad:

And I do not care at all for this poll. It has zero meaning/impact. We have seen how stupid it is in the past. Rahe still has lost to some terrible teams this season. The two wins last week were basically losses. We beat the two worst teams in the conference, a conference that ranks 29/31, by an average of 3.5 points a game. Pathetic....

What world do you live in? A win is never basically a loss, there are ugly wins, but this team didn't basically lose those games.

Oh and by the way, EVERY coach loses games they shouldn't, to single Rahe out for it is just petty.

And Tomcat wasn't claiming to be a fan of Lillard, he was only pointing out the huge biases of the local Media and their making Jimmer's accomplishment just the best ever, while plainly ignoring the continuing fantastic career Damian is having, and we all know it's because Lillard isn't a BYU Molly Mormon Cutout.

One more thing wsufan it seems to me the thing that you are really peeved about is calling yourself a wsufan when clearly you are not,I can feel the hate swelling in you now.

I just think it is funny that Weber has 20 wins, AGAIN, and there is no excitement on campus. Heavens, nobody on campus really knows that Weber is leading the Sky, has won 20 games, and that the closest thing to a playoff is this week. The Montana's are visiting the Dee and once again, like all season, the Student-Section will be empty. To me, everything possible should be being done to get fans out to the games. Yet, the marketing director comes in late and leaves early. No signs, no excitement, NOTHING...Who cares that we are ranked in any poll, nobody would ever hear about it, unless they were members of this forum.

Love Dame's play. He is totally on fire right now. So awesome to see!

I think most of us have already expressed our opinions of this poll. Weber being ranked doesn't change my opinion of it, or my opinion of Rahe.

Agree, rankings mean little, especially from a "mid-major" poll.

As for Lillard, it was also noted that his 51 pts/7 ast/6 stl made him the only player to ever do that since the NBA began recording steals as an official stat in the 70's. Mid-Major poll rankings are probably as meaningful as NBA All-Star voting.

The only thing that the polls really show is that somebody does have a little respect for you. You still have to prove yourself every time you step on the floor. It was a good start when we won in Florida. Since then, we have had some good and some bad. I still think that we are a team that can not be taken lightly by anyone in the country. As it sits, I think we are better than the last time we played at the Dance.

It is better to be ranked (in any poll) than not to be ranked but I agree that the mid-major poll is "bs"!

Runner do you really believe that this team (without Bolomboy) can't be taken lightly? I would agree if you qualified that remark with a "with Bolomboy" qualification.

I was in Flagstaff for the game last Saturday. I am not a big fan of the peanuts coaching skills, but I have to give props when props are earned. Rahe earned them on Saturday with a fine coaching job. NAU is not without talent. In fact, there is enough talent to challenge any club in the conference, so don't quite understand why they have such a poor record.

With Bolomboy we are a lot better. Without him we are still damn good.

I'm glad we have MSU first this week. They play a 4 guard lineup. Us playing a little smaller at times, won't hurt us as much. The bigs we have will still be able to dominate their bigs. Montana presents a different sort of problem. We will need to scheme for Bruenig. :coffee:

Rahe responded well to a tough situation of losing WSU's top rebounder/player, Bolomboy, to injury last Saturday. I think Rahe is a good coach and a few of your on here (I'm not pointing at you baller) don't appreciate that he has been able to consistently field a competitive team. Could it get better with a different coach/approach...perhaps. But it certainly could get a whole lot worse.

NAU has 12 freshman on their roster. It has taken them a while to gel. Of the four veteran returning players from last year's squad, NAU lost their starting power forward Jordyn Martin and starting point guard Jaleeni Neely (their only two seniors) to injuries early on in the season. Yanku and Kaluna are the only players who put in big time minutes last season. This is the youngest Lumberjacks team I've ever watched. At least they're starting to be competitive now and there seems to be hope for the future.

Weber's back up post players responded well to Bolomboy's injury last weekend. The Wildcats will be competitive.
