Okay...I really can't wait till basketball season. YIKES!! I just visited weberstatesports.com and it seems like nobody can win at Weber State this Fall. :? Every article deals with a Cats team losing. It is really embarrassing. You've gotta be somewhat impressed by our SID's ability to find the silver-lining in consistent and constant losses. Every article attempts to find the positive. "Wildcat Soccer Drops Match to Eagles," "Wildcats Dropped in 3-Set Match to Bengals," "Wildcats Drop Conference Opener" UGH!! Drops is becoming the "go-to" word for Weber State athletics. It doesn't just refer to Marketing anymore, it is affecting the entire department. It use to be, "Marketing drops the ball again." Now, it is everything. Jerry must be in a world of hurt. As an Alumnus this is getting really sad. I hate visiting weberstatesports.com right now.

Excellent post! Was feeling the same way, but didn't know how to articulate it in a remotely positive fashion.
I do believe the Football team is moving in the right direction, but will be a little painful in the interim. I do see a lot of hard work going into improving facilities and athletic programs.
Its tough, but I think the next 2-3 years should be years of drastic improvement in our athletic programs. the important question is how do we sustain the positive momentum.
On a bright note, the Basketball season starts in less than a week! :-D

Soccer is struggling right now through a lot of injuries. They had a great start to the season but the last two weeks have been against difficult teams while shorthanded.

Football...it's frustrating. They should have some of those wins by now instead of being 0-5. I think coming off the bye week they're going to get the win on Homecoming night.

Volleyball has been struggling for several years now. They are historically the worst fall athletics program at WSU. Here are the all-time winning percentages for the fall sports as of 9/13.

Football: 0.469 (266-297-3)
Soccer: 0.445 (148-153-31)
Volleyball: 0.381 (463-752)
Men's Basketball: 0.638 (965-546)
Women's Basketball: 0.457 (482-571)

All that being said, men's and women's golf are doing well, as are men's and women's cross country.

I thought the same thing when I went to Weber's athletic page. Then I went to SUU's page and I saw that they are winning a lot lately. Good starts in volleyball and soccer, beating us in football , and most impressively winning a prestigious men's cross country meet that had several top 25 teams (Weber placed something like 19th). Made me a little worried as a wildcat fan.

winning with these sports doesn't matter that much. i only care if the STUDENT athletes are getting good grades :willybs:

LOL. Now that catcat and patterjr are back I can start to post again. It's ok guys. The fall sports are just to get ready for the only sport that matters at Weber State. MENS BASKETBALL  If we were last place in everything and first in men's hoops, I would be fine with that. Pretty much how it goes anyway except for cross country which nobody cares about. ha ha. I would like all the other teams not to suck though, but as long as our hoops team is awesome I am happy.

I believe the men's team was actually 13th in that race with one of their top runners not being able to finish the race after getting tripped, the women were 19th.

Who got tripped? Got to admit though, SUU has quite the team. Their top runner is pretty remarkable and he makes the rest of their team perform at a far higher level. They might be able to challenge NAU for the title. I'm worried about Weber finishing in the top half of the conference right now.

This thread is in the wrong place. :willybs: :wtf:

Yep, I tend to agree. Tal frequently starts random threads. It has something to do with his ego. What does this have to do with basketball? We all realize the sad state the athletics department is in. Our only hope is basketball.

From what I have heard, it was Tip Worob who got tripped up going down a hill and wasn't able to continue. I would say that if the men's team doesn't take third this year, Coach Pilkington will be a little upset. They are just looking for that fifth guy to step up when they need him. SUU does have a good team but NAU is head and shoulders above anyone else in the conference. They finished 2nd last season and didn't lose any of their top runners.
