Weber State the best team in Utah next season?

The way things are looking we are the only team to really be bring back our man player. Of course that's Lillard. So there is speculation that Ferdette is going pro this up coming NBA draft, which means we can take care of business at home. Utah State is losing Qualye, and they don't have a solid PG as of now to take his spot, I think they are beatable in Logan next season. Utah is still going to take a year or two to rebuild down south, with that said we should win down in the Huntsman. And we should take care of either SUU or UVV if they are on the schedule. The way I see it, there is no reason to not be the best team in Utah next year. Looking good to be a Wildcat fan!!

You're much more optimistic than I am. After watching Weber go 1-3 to end the season (and looked bad doing it), I think Weber still has a lot of work to do before I start calling them the best team in the state. And knowing what some of the other Utah teams have coming back, they won't be the best team in the state next year. Utah St will be as good or better (only losing one senior). If Fredette comes back (and after watching him struggle against K State, I think he would be a fool to go pro) BYU will be as good or better. And a young Utah team will be older and better. I wouldn't be surprised if Weber goes 0-3 against these three next year.

I don't think there is anyway Fredette leaves. He is projected as a mid 2nd rounder at best, and his family has repeatedly said he would only leave early to be a lottery pick. He is not a great defender, he is slow laterally, and not real athletic. I would much rather see Fredette with Byu when they get beat next season in Ogden. USU in Logan is always tough, and Brockeith Pane who will be replacing Quayle looks to be legit. I like our chances against Nationally ranked Byu at the Dee versus USU in Logan, as long as there is a real crowd. The last 2 times Byu has played in Ogden we have averaged about 6,000. This game should be promoted as, come be a part of the first sellout in history, and WSU and marketing should start promoting the game this summer as soon as we have a date. This game shouldn't be a hard one to sellout, but with WSU athletic and marketing dept.'s at the helm I'm sure it will be nearly impossible.

In my feeble mind, all of the teams in Utah will be improved next year. How much we improve remains to be seen. If our bigs can step it up, we have the guards to compete with anyone. However you slice it, it will be great to be a Wildcat. I love our team, the coaches and the school. What a great assett for Ogden to have.

I hope Ogden wakes up and realizes what they have. We need to start packing the Dee. I don't know what it will take to get the studentbody off its butt, if only one in ten came and brought a date, that would be sensational. I would kiss the feet of the person who can make that happen.

Student attendance should be something the administration focuses on during the off-seasons. Not only for basketball but also for football.

Next season is going to be hard to judge. Yes, USU loses Quayle, but Green is a damn good guard and could be the PG in a heartbeat. Also USU has an ESPN 90 coming in. Not that that says he'll pan out, but... As for the Y, they are losing some players to either graduation or missions, but, they are also getting players back from missions and have some decent recruits coming in. Utah, has a very talented team. They were really young this season, and didn't have a good PG or senior leadership for that matter, but I expect them to be much improved next year. I wouldn't doubt seeing them winning 20.

As for Weber...well... Yes, Lillard will be back. But he needs help, especially from the post players. We need our bigs to be contributing each game. I think Weber could have one of the best Big Sky freshman next season in Byron Fulton. He is a talented and long big. He has great hands, moves really well, especially along the baseline, can pass and has an outside shot to go along with his inside game. He is only 6-7, but has the arms of a 7-1 kid. I really think Richardson is going to be the backup point guard. Coro, to me, just doesn't seem quick enough to be a PG. I could see him being an excellent SG or SF. Bamforth will be the best shooter on the team next year. Not only can he hit from outside, but he has the ability to penetrate and create his own shot, something Weber definitely has had a difficult time doing. Davis is a workhorse and Tresnak will have to work VERY VERY hard this summer. He will be playing in November.

The player who needs to find himself this summer is Bullinger. He needs to find his shot and get quicker. Weber has Porter who will be a great role player.
