Weber State vs SUU

Good to see the Wildcats sweep SUU. They need to win 3 of last 4 to have a shot at top 5.

It was a much better night, all around. A little bigger crowd, the band, twice as many students as any other game this season, the refs were consistent, and the offense seemed to run more efficiently. SUU clearly has more talent than we do this year, but we swept them anyway. A game like that doesn't salvage a year, but it is encouraging going forward.

SUU threw a couple of zones and a couple of presses at us with little effect. We assisted on half of our made shots and had fewer breakdowns on defense. Also, that was the best free throw shooting we have had in a long time. There were a lot of positives in that game. :coffee:

Enjoyed the game. SUU is a good matchup for us this year. Weber can pack the middle and make them shoot from outside. SUU cant shoot straight! When Weber has others contribute it sure makes it easier! Kozak, Zdor, Cody John all showed up. Zdor only got 16 minutes but scored 9 points. His length is necessary for our success, but I’m not sure coach Rahe understands that. When we play teams with outside shooters, that’s when we have the most issues, because we don’t have length on the wings.
I suppose the game could be considered encouraging, but I don’t think this game holds water because of the matchup. I sure would love to see this team play like this every night, but results have shown that we are going to get Harding scoring in the 20’s, Kozak with 10 and hustling, and everyone is a complete guess! Next to Harding I think Kozak has been the most consistent, which is crazy considering the entire year last year until the big sky tourney Kozak was pretty much good in 1 of every 6 games. Gotta give him props! He has developed into a solid player. John has regressed in my opinion. And Caleb Nero never should have been pushed into the transfer portal, because I haven’t seen anything that tells me that KJ, Jordan, Gallupo, and even Davis are more productive. Davis has played D, but he is not good on the offensive end.
Hears to hoping we make a run at the end of the year and through the tourney, but I’m not banking on it!
