Weber State vs. Utah 2 years from now.

Its a slow day at work and a co worker and I were talking about college hoops. He graduated from Utah, but doesn't really follow their basketball team. We talked about how Utah wont play us anymore for whatever reason. Anyway, he predicted that Utah's basketball program would be far superior to Weber States in 2 years. He cant imagine Weber State being better than Utah in anything. ( Stupid Ute fans) I almost crapped my pants I was laughing so hard. I tried to look at the state of both programs without being biased and I just don't see it happening, and its not even close. The only thing that the Utes have over us now is they are in the Pac 12. Big friggin deal!!! Comparing the last 2 recruiting classes, I could argue that Weber States was stronger. The Utes 2013 class is embarrassing for a Pac 12 school. I predict that in 2 years LK is gone as their coach and the Utes don't finish higher than 10th in the conference in either the next 2 years. (10th is being nice lol) I predict Weber State to win the Big Sky conference the next 2 years and making the NCAA tournament being very competitive in it. I wish so bad we could play the Utes. The cowards!!!
 
The Mutes have had a great football program in the past, but have struggled since joining the Pacified 12. Weber took them to the very end a few years ago. Weber has had a superior BB team for the past 6 or 7 years. It may be another 6 or 7 years before they can catch up, if ever. They are that far down. They wouldn't make the playoffs in the BSC. People are calling for LK's head already. I don't expect he will survive the next two years and they will be starting all over again. Their track and cross country programs have not been at our level for the past 30 years. They beat the hell out of us in swimming and gymnastics because we don't have those programs, LOL. Really, the only thing they have to hang their hats on, right now, is football, and that is mediocre at best.

It sucks to be a Mute fan right now. Add to it that they are cowards. :thumbdown: :thumbdown:

You are so far off its not even funny. The Utes would make the Big Sky tournament every year. Have you seen how bad our 7th place teams have been? Yes the Utes have lost to ISU in the last few years, but we have too. No question Weber is better right now, but please be realistic.
 
Old's might be exaggerating a bit, but it was fun reading... LK is pretty chicken**** though and everyone knows it.
 
The way Utah was playing in the Pac12 Tourney last year I think they would have won the Big Sky.

Utah lost a lot of face when they lost to us by 30 points last time, they wont play us again till they KNOW they can beat us.

So yes, LK and the Utes are CHICKEN $#!T
 
I think it is pretty damn ridiculous what LK and the Pukes are doing. When Weber was down did we duck tail and run? No, we MANNED up and played our instate brothers. Yes, we got our butts handed to us, but we still showed up and played the game. Utah is the flag-ship institution! The mighty Utes are suppose to be the state leaders, the exemplar. Yet, when things get tough, they cravenly buy off 300+ teams and run away from playing their instate foes. Yes, Utah is improving, but it'll be a long time coming before the Utes are actually able to make much noise in the PAC-12. I say when LK comes begging we make him come to the Dee or NO DICE!! What is even more pathetic about the current UTES (Majerus would never run away from a challenge) is that the UM grad is a coward about Weber, because he knows damn well how hard it is to win in the Dee and how good Weber's program is. MAN UP LK!! You are a coach of a "Major" program and you won't even play little Weber State in Ogden Utah. PATHETIC EXCUSE FOR A "MAN". I thought they made them with more guts up north. LK is not only a gutless coward representing the University of Utah, but he is also representing the U of M and the state of Montana. :ohno:

Wazzu, you should have asked if your buddy was even a Utah graduate? If he wasn't, you could ask him why he even cares about a team/school he never attended.
 
The modern Ute fan is kind of interesting. The history of that school is how great the basketball program has been for decades. But to the modern Ute fan, basketball and the actual sports history of their own school is almost non-existent. It's football only and beat your chest and brag about being in the PAC-12. Kind of weird actually. Now I hate the Utes, but I'm often relieved to find an old-school Ute fan so we can actually have a conversation.

Sorry Tal, your friend at work is a modern Ute tool. The worst thing right now is how many kids have quit the program and transferred to other schools. Coach Kristo is still starting over again -- again. He may get it together, but it's going to take awhile. People in Utah are used to just looking down at Weber ... just because. Would love to be kicking the Utes butts right now, but I'm not sure it is ever going to happen again. They won't do a home and home with us or the Aggies, and I don't think we should ever do a 2 for 1 with them. Just let him know that his Ute basketball program doesn't even have a firm grip on 4th place in the state -- and they aren't close to the top 3, nor will they be for awhile.

Finally, make sure you give him a good PAC-12 education as the power schools in the conference are pissed that the league dipped down so low as to pick up Utah and Colorado (a team the Big 12 was desperate to get rid off). If you think there is disdain from Utes to Weber, he should talk to a knowledgeable PAC-10 alumni about how much weaker the league became with the addition of the Utes and the Buffaloes. But hey, the Utes/Colorado rivalry should be one of the nation's great ones in just, oh, I don't know, maybe, never...
 
I remember reading the paper the day after we put the 30 point beatdown on them, and LK said something along the lines of "I could care less if I ever had to play in Ogden again".

Your a big man LK, your a big man.
 
I think it's a little unrealistic to say that the Utes would have made the BSC playoffs in basketball last year. They lost to ISU at the Huntsman Center. 'Nuff Said!!

It's probably good that we are not playing them. They would be a drag on our RPI rating. :yikes:

The Utes lost to Sac St. at the Huntsman Center 74-71 this past year.

ISU has won in the Huntsman Center recently, if we think lately means in the past 8 years.
