Weber the only NCAA Tournament team from Utah?

Granted we're not there yet. Just think back to '09 & '10 on our own floor.
..but we haven't maxed out yet, or even close, and we're in great shape.

Utah- No possible way

USU- Would take a miracle to get past (Nevada who beat them in Logan already) & NMSU (who beat them by 20) in the WAC tournament in Vegas.

ybu COUGARS- lost to Loyola Maymount by 14 in Provo this week effectively thwarting any chance of an At-Large bid. They got beatdown by St. Mary's & still have to play them again & the Zags twice. It will be very difficult to get past both of them in the WCC tournament in Vegas as well.

SUU- No

UVU- No Autobid for league

Has Weber ever been the only team from the State to make it to the Dance?
If WSU is the only team to make it, does it make you feel better? Would you rather have in State teams make it with us? Even though we lost to ybu, does it help solidify that we are the best team in the state?

it would be cool to be the only team to make it from the state but it wouldnt be a goal i think about.

on the aggie board someone said in 1994 no utah teams made the big dance. not sure if when/if there was a yr it was only weber.

in case anyone missed it, this was a quote i was very excited to read after the nau win on thurs:

desnews:

Even on their current hot streak, Rahe feels like his team has plenty of room to improve.

"I like where we're at, but we can get better," he said. "We've played good basketball, but I don't think we've played our best basketball. By no means have we peaked as a team."

sltrib:

“You like to be perfect,” Rahe said. “But each game presents different issues. I like where we’re at. The thing I like, we can get better. There are areas we need to shore up and we can do that. We can improve as a team.

“We haven’t peaked yet.”

I remember 1968 Weber went alone - lost to New Mexico State 68-57 in Western Regional in SLC. NMS had a couple of players that played NBA minutes on that team. There might have been other years but they don't come to mind.

After some research looks like we played alone in 1973 loosing to Long Beach in the Western Regional in Logan also.

Ah yes...1994!! Weber got screwed out of an NCAA appearance. Boise State bought off the Big Sky that season and hosted the conference tournament as a sixth seed. They beat Weber, at their place, while Weber was the home team, in the Semi's, and then beat ISU in the Finals. Ridiculous ending!! Weber had a really good team that year and got bent over!!
