Great to see 11,735 at Hornet Stadium tonight. More than any game last year and it was all Hornet fans minus a few folks from Eastern Oregon. A good showing for President Nelson to see what the standard for attendance needs to be and more with a stadium that can seat 10K more.
Agree with SJ. Hornets did what they needed to do, but didn't look sharp at times. Kniffin was efficient, and took care of the football. Hornets lost 2 fumbles which isn't good, that definitely needs to get cleaned up. I think the Hornet passing game will be just fine, Harrison is already making his presence felt. I do think we will struggle to run the ball as well.
Defensively the Hornets keep things under wraps. Not really much to say here as this was expected against a lower level opponent. EUO didn't really move the ball until the Hornets emptied the bench in the 4th quarter.
Special teams was mostly good. Cornish is fine, the Hornets also let the FR Medeiros get some kickoffs and some PATs. Hennie took a punt return to the house. Only knock is the kick return allowed for a TD. That will need to be addressed.
It was great to see a good crowd. I was surprised to be honest. GCM since you won't believe the 11.7k posted in the box score, there is also photo evidence provided in the link at the top.
Do believe the attendance was correct. Believe the west stands seat 11,000 and the east side seats 10,000.
From the photos the west side was filled to capacity. The east side looked like 750 on video. When folks watch the game on video our stadium looks empty as the cameras show the east side all game, only filled when Davis or Montana come to play. The east side will start to fill up when attendance grows to the point where there is no place to sit on the west side. That will be a great day.
Yesterdays attendance would be sell outs at over half the Big Sky stadiums. .
