Week 12: Sac State @ Portland State

Those PSU announcer's know what plays we should be running, but our coaches don't; they say only Safron should run since no one else can; Safron run or Safron pass - that's it.
 
Safron led the Hornets to a game winning TD with under a minute left. D grabs an INT to seal it. Unreal. Early PSU mistakes (lack of a kicking game) cost them this win. Now we get to see if this clusterfuck of a game convinces Wanless to extend Sperbeck's contract. Oh Jesus.

Great. Just when i was thinking we get to hit the reset button we again messed the bed and won. Here's to 5 more years of mediocrity. Just average wins the day. If we are lucky they will sack the D Coordinator.

This is my fear as well. If Sperbeck does stay, replacing ALL of the defensive coaches is a must.
 
While it's obviously been a very disappointing season, it was nice to be on the winning end of one of these high scoring games for a change. Props to Safron for a career game. While we all are aware of his deficiencies, 500+ yards is nothing to sneeze at. For a QB that has difficulty completing passes downfield, it's amazing to me that he can pile up stats like this from time to time. Awesome performance.

SD, it was nice to see the other team suffer from the lack of a kicking game for a change, wasn't it?

Did anyone else see all of the missed tackles today? Whiffs all day trying to arm tackle above the waist. The 29 second, 75 yard "drive" Portland had right before the half was pure misery to watch. I agree that if Sperbeck stays, there needs to be some serious changes on the defensive side of the ball. How long do we keep doing the same thing and expect different results = insanity.

PSU's kicking woes reminded me of our last trip to Portland. That last PSU drive yesterday was pretty much what the Hornets did that previous trip. Drive and get into scoring position, only to fail on 4th and short/goal and get no points.

I saw those missed tackles as well...and last week, and the one before that, and the one before that...

PSU put up an astounding 713 yards yesterday. 713. DJ Adams alone ran for 249 yards and 5 TDs. These are clown football stats.
