I was able to watch the game onDish last night. Our defense was in their backfield all night and with a few exceptions our defense looked just flat Nasty! They were winning the line battle most of the night. Offensively we looked good, I saw timing issues with receivers, that will get resolved in the next couple of weeks I think. I loved the attitude, I appreciate how our coaches attacked offensively and defensively for the full 60 minutes. I think this team wins a lot more than 2 games this season, and can see us finishing in the middle of the conference. I do think we rock a few teams that were counting the W against us.

Well, my half-assed 48-24 prediction was WAAAY off, but there's certainly nothing wrong with a 12-point loss to a PAC-12 program. Of course we'd all have loved to have seen them capture a huge win -- and they certainly had chances for one -- but I'm still pleasantly surprised by the low scoring and competitive game.
First off, I was shocked by the defensive performance. IDK if ASU's offense is just that bad with all the freshmen they are playing or if the defense under Andy Thompson is that much improved from last season or if it was a combination of both. Regardless, I was not expecting 3 points at the half and only 19 for the entire game. Well done!
I did, however, expect more production out of the offense -- perhaps unfairly. Again, IDK how good the Sun Devils defense might really be and I suppose we'll find out over the next few weeks as they play other FBS opponents. That said, I didn't expect the offense to be shut out for 3 quarters and only score 7.
All in all it was the type of performance that turned many heads across the country and hopefully helps with recruiting.
I know better than to get too overly excited by thinking that because they stood toe to toe with a PAC-12 foe that it somehow means they'll beat most of their FCS opponents. So they better not take Northern Colorado lightly!
Go get 'em Hornets! The home crowd needs to see a one-sided victory for the good guys!

Not that it mattered, but IDK what the hell Thomson was doing on that 4th and 2 late in the game. Not only did he have #16 Marshel Martin wide open right away for the 1st down -- he easily could have run for the 1st down. Instead he throws across his body to a receiver that was clearly covered.
Gotta take the plays that are there! It would have been nice to see them punch in another score there. There was still plenty of time.

I’m watching ASU play up @ Michigan State right now and it’s currently 3-0 Sun Devils with 13 min to play in the game.
So it’s possible the Hornets performance last week was even better than we thought!

UPDATE: The Sun Devils left East Lansing with a 10-7 win over one of the better defenses in college football. Ranked #18 in FBS.
If the Hornets can win enough games this season, that tough loss to ASU could help them.
