Week 6: Sac State @ Montana State

In tribute to SD.... :notworthy:

Sorry haven't had time to review MS film yet.

After finally sobering up from last weeks "cluster f$&k" - I am ready for another week of Hornet football. Will be a tough task up in Bozeman....I think the Offense is finally moving the ball a little better and the defense is playing better than years past - shame the record doesn't indicate it.

We still need to play with more discipline - that goes from ball security to stupid penalties - all things the staff work on with the players daily and weekly - it comes down to the players doing the job and playing with control, things that sometime lack with the younger guys. Turnovers have cost us two weeks in a row and an unsportsmanlike penalty last week, which resulted in a field goal could have been the difference.

So Go Hornets and lets right the ship.....

Agree.

Eliminate the penalties.

Keep the offense that is looking better on the field and driving by holding on to the ball.

Keep the kickoffs going into the end zone and coverage tight so the opponent has to down it to avoid the big play returns.

Perhaps use both quarterbacks and utilize their strengths so both can continue to improve and keep our offense on the field so our improving defense can rest and come in and improve. The defense is doing much better than a year ago in terms of points given up (way better and actually gave up no points against UNC unless the two field goals count ) but the offense is 20 points or more lower than last years average against Div I teams.

Open up the play book and be a bit less predictable. Get all our talented receivers involved. Pass the ball which works when balls are thrown with a chance for receivers to fight for the catch. . Run up the middle but mix up the running game a bit more than up the middle.

Assume all teams left on the schedule likely see Sac State as a victory so nothing to lose and everything to gain and bring it all together and show up and play to the full potential from start to finish .

Go Hornets.

Thanks for getting this going OG. :thumb:

MSU might be reeling coming into this one; they got rolled hard at NAU (49-41, MSU got a flurry of late TDs in the closing minutes, this game wasn’t as close as the score indicates) and have not lived up some lofty preseason expectations thus far. A shootout loss to EWU earlier in the season is also hanging over their heads.

MSU is similar to EWU in that they are all offense and no defense. MSU’s QB Prukop is the real deal and can get it done on the ground as well as with his arm. If the Hornet defense can somehow keep this game close (and the Hornets can clean up the stupid penalties and turnovers) then anything can happen. Still a long shot, but MSU hasn’t gotten things together on the defensive side so the Hornets should be able to move the ball.

Agree SDH!!

Question.

How do I or any of us watch this upcoming game at MSU on TV

I've always assumed that anything on Roots Sports is not available to us Sac State fans.

perhaps I am wrong.

I get Comcast and assume Comcast is what most of us have , but, again, just assuming.

Please let me know if i can see this game or if radio is my only option which is OK but just wondering how any of u watch a game that is on Root Sports and therefor not on Big Sky TV on the computer.

Go Hornets!!!

Comcast does not have Root Sports. I live in Southern California and I have Direct TV and I get the channel down here. I have been panicking because I have to work Saturday and I was not sure how I was going to see the game since work doesn't have the channel. Today I noticed that the new streaming site had it as an upcoming event to show. I hope that's the case.

I live in Rocklin, 20 miles NE of Sac, have Dish and get Root Sports Northwest on channel 426 and Root Sports Rocky Mountain on channel 414 and both channels are carrying Sac St at MT St at 4pm this Sat. They usually have either the Grizz or Bobcats on every week, especially if a home game. NAU also is on nearly every home game on Fox AZ or SW or Altitude, can't recall which. Root Sports carried the Montana at Davis game last week here - I watched it.

So, Sac State can be on TV when at MT or MT St or NAU and the Causeway and sometimes when at North Dakota - at least on Dish, but you have to subscribe to ALL the sports channels offered by Dish. I'm often able to watch at least one Big Sky game per week and sometimes two or three even.

Thanks for the info.

Glad that Sac State is on TV with specific carriers.

And assume these channels carry the game when it is an away game and not when it is a game at Hornet
Stadium.

I'm out of luck with Comcast.

Will listen on the radio.

Go Hornets!!

Build for the future now. The 2015 Hornets have done their best and so many players are banged up and hurt

Just take it week by week with 5 games left and build for next year. And of course fight to win every game remaining.

Up next SUU.

SUU beat Weber State 44-0 and WSU beat Montana today at Montana and WSU of course took care of us easily. Oh my. ISU won their first FCS game at UND today and Davis beat NAU for their first win and of course NAU beat MSU. Oh my.

It would have been so exciting for Sac State to be in the wide open Big Sky race this year (with the exception so far of EWU who does just enough every game to win in the Big Sky)

Trust all of our players who are hurt will be healed up by next week and Sac State continues to show up and fight. This team does show up and they do fight!!

And hope to see this team just go for it and pull out all the stops as championships and post season are long gone. Time to open it up and try all things possible and then some. And time to score more than 20 points in a game. Throw it to the end zone when we are in the red zone!!! Go for it!!!

Go Hornets!!!

This is definitely a rough year. Keep pushing. Very young football team that will continue to get better. If anyone saw the production on CAL and the QB and how young there team was 3 years ago. Seems to have paid off so far.

I was out of pocket for the past few days so I didn’t catch any of the game. Sounds like another typical game for the Hornets, defense keeps them in it but the offense couldn’t keep pace until the Hornets eventually ran out of gas…only this week we lost some key players to injuries. Robinson was on pace to have a great year (statistically speaking), sad to hear him get hurt.

Are any of these injured players (QBs, Robinson) expected back this season? How did Ketteringham look?

Watched the game on Root... Ketteringham is the real deal. He's young/raw - but not in chicken with his head cut off mode (see: Jihad Vercher). Cassel is an upgrade over Kniffin, but Ketteringham might have as good or better tools. I'd like to see him play more with the hopes that he can take over the reigns for 3.5 years.... Would that be nice...

I did not watch but listened to on radio app. Ketteringham can run has a pretty accurate arm. He is raw, but when I think of Kniffin last year at Cal putting balls in the dirt(sound familiar?) I think his trajectory is WELL beyong Knifen, Knifen should be back up rest of season and start the freshman. He will groww during spring and fall ball and be ready to roll next year.
